Brossart 55 Montgomery County 37

Recommended Posts

One of the ugliest games I've ever seen. Montgomery couldn't throw one in the ocean and Brossart's defense was very impressive against the Tribe. They totally shut down Ryals and if he's shut down, the Indians have no chance.

Good luck to Brossart Friday night.

FreakNasty how did Ryals do? Anyone have stats for either team?

Listening to the game on 107.7 FM, it seemed as if Brossart was frustrating Ryals, Utterback, and Stevens (IMO Montgomery's three best players), with their trademark stiff defense. Brossart plays better team defense than Bourbon obviously, and every shot was contested. Ryals had to to duplicate the 17 point, 12 board, 5 steal effort he had against Bourbon last Tuesday, and he simply didn't come close....

Montgomery did play the 2-3 zone I predicted, but Brossart was making the open three point shots that the 2-3 allows. That is something that Bourbon did not do last Tuesday night....

Don't think he scored until about 30 seconds left in the 3rd quarter. Finished with about 7 all scored long after the game was decided.

One field goal for the game along with 5 free throws. Great defense primarilly by Jimmy Uebel on him. Brossart's "D" frustrated the Indians, holding them to 1 point in the 2nd period, and 7 for the half. If BB would have converted better on the offensive end it would have essentially been over at the half. I don't have the stats, but Montgomery didn't actually shoot that bad in the first half, but rather had few shots due to turnovers, five second tieups, etc. Shot about 35% for the game, but most of that was when they picked up the tempo in the 2nd half, trying to get back into the game.

Great effort by both teams, and credit the Indians for fighting to the end!! They are young and will be back next year; and the Stephens kid will be a beast before he's done!! Sometimes good "D" makes the "O" look ugly!!
