I think Ryle wins and they really need to win. I think that it will take some time to get to where they want to be and as the kids get more comfortable in the system they will do better.

I think Ryle's defense wins this game for them. Conner gave up considerable points to a very mediocre Boone team. If they (Ryle) can muster any type of offense,, they win this game easily.

Ryle REALLY needs a win here, way more than Conner does. I think Conner's fate is sealed for this season. They have "fallen off significantly" without Barker. Ryle has been hyping this group of kids, praising their new coach...their fans are all in and historically cranky when they don't win.

 

I haven't followed them at all....who is at QB? Is England back to full speed/strength?

 

Rytlewski is the QB. And yes England is back and healthy.

I predict a really bad football game. Hope these two programs get back on track soon. Miss being able to poke my Raider buddies......

I have to say the Ryle program went from contenders to pretenders! All we hear about is what is down on the farm. I've seen the young talent and they must be spending the offseason poolside? I know the Ross boys were at ASAP, but if you lose this week you might want to abandon the raider ship

Nope , being disappointed is one thing , but giving up on the boys is not happening. If anything else it allows us to teach them how to deal with adversity. We should be models of character as adults.

Why would it be time for a coaching change, they have a very young and mediocre team at best. Yes Ryle has more to lose but NO WAY do you get rid of Trosper just because he loses this year. He lost to Ryle in 2011 with No Travis Elliott and no one ask him to resign. They have been a top 5A program during the Barker era and will need to rebuild to replace his presence.

Vince Lombardi could be coaching, if you don't have athletes to work with, your not going to be competitive, some classes are better than others, coaching in a big part of it, but you have to realize your are only coaching the hand you are dealt, this is not Park Hills, Ft. Thomas, or Ft. Mitchell.:up:

What did Conner do while having a D-1 Level QB? Did they make a deep playoff run of any kind?, Did they make it out of their own region?

Cougars were bailing on the program during spring ball from all accounts. I'm not sure if it's Trosper's abilities being called into question as much as his people skills.

Conner lost a D-1 QB (Barker), which is hard to replace, but no one is talking about the loss of Mr. Do Everything and D-1 WR/CB/Returner (Way) who were their two biggest leaders. They also almost lost their entire line on both sides of the ball to graduation. Three senior players decided not to play this year, some of which were for very personal reasons. These three would have anchored both the offensive and defensive lines. I believe there are only seven seniors on the roster this year. Hence, it's more a numbers issue this year for upperclassmen than not developing the talent. In addition, their QB is taking his first varsity snaps as a junior and did not play at all last year. That adds up to being a small (they will mature physically), inexperienced (they will mature mentally), and young (for the reasons above) football team.

 

Conner will be fine. Obviously, the goal is to win as many games as possible, always is. But they should also be focused on gaining invaluable experience and getting better week to week, game to game, quarter by quarter. And, to stay healthy!
