Once again, don't restrict this to just Trinity. Rather, apply it to any of the 7th Region tournament teams who don't make the Sweet 16, be it Male, J-Town, Ballard, Eastern, Fern Creek etc.

 

Feel free to do the same analysis for the 11th region.

Like they should have won their region so they'd have a chance to play Paintsville or Fairview.

I guess now it's Shelby Valley or Fairview.

Elliott is Elliott County, who unlike some schools, won the first-round game in their regional tournament.

 

I hate neither private schools nor Louisville schools. I am on record as opposing the proposed public/private split, because, as basic as this sounds, I believe that teams should find (legal) ways to get better rather than cry about perceived systemic inequities.

 

What I can't abide are those who seem to think it's their birthright to be competing in the state tournament - but when they don't qualify, want to re-tool the system.

I agree, if you by polls then louiville and lexington will have about 12-14 teams in the state evry year. But to me what makes the sweet 16 so special is watching the teams from the mountains come to Rupp. I like watching these underdogs play. In other words I would much rather watch the winner of the 12th region play in Rupp, than to watch the 6th best team from louisville or the 3rd best team from lexington, even though those teams are better than the first place team in some of the "weak" regions.

What makes it so exciting is that it means so much for the champions of these conferences (Kentucky high school equivalent - regions) just to get to the NCAA tournament.

I just wish the best teams in the state played in the state tournament, not just the best team in each region. I love this time of year as well for the same reason. I'm not trying to exclude the Region Champs. All I'm suggesting is to allow more teams in.

The way the sweet 16 is set up there are 4 games in 4 days. If you went to 32 teams say 16 region winners and 16 at large schools the tournament would take 8 days instead of 4. I am ready to home every year after 4 days.

All teams are invited to the big dance in KY it's called district tournaments.
