Molly is street name for MDMA. MDMA will give you a euphoric high and has amphetamine like side effects. It would in no way, shape, or form improve someone's workout. Ecstasy is not pure MDMA and sometimes doesn't even have MDMA in it. He probably confessed because people would have thought he was a cheater instead of him just trying to have a good time.
