This one blows my mind. It's from the same Association album, and that's the album cover. This was some dramatic stuff for a 4 year old, but I remember laying on the floor in front of the big console stereo listening and goose bumping on it way back then. Literally have not heard this one in years and almost forgot all about it.

In my defense, I had never heard of them before, but grew to love them later. Saw them at Bogart's about 20 years ago on one of their rare US tours and it was fantastic.

I've always loved this clip. For the first two minutes of the song, Gord has this terrified look on his face as he scans the audience and gets no reaction. Then the crowd starts getting into it and clapping along, and you see his body language do a 180 and he's smiling like crazy.

Have always dug them, and as you can see from this video that this tune doesn't feel buried in the 80's. Still sounds good from them not going over the top with that certain 80's sheen. One of my favorite albums by them "Gold Afternoon Fix" was always considered by critics as being one of their worst. Never understood that.

"Gold Afternoon Fix" was fantastic, and my entry point for The Church. I don't get that. I have it on vinyl somewhere.

I think I do remember what you're talking about as my sister had a WSAI compilation album, with it seems, a ton of songs on it.

 

It might've even been a double album. I don't recall all the tunes, but if it's the same one you're talking about I sorta recall "You've Lost That Loving Feeling", "Cherish", and "Crimson & Clover".

 

I'm not sure if they put out just one, or year after year.

 

I might still have it buried somewhere in my album collection that I can't conveniently get at because I have them all tucked away in a closet for my lack of storage space.

 

It bites because I'm sitting about 20 feet from about 300 albums that are buried in a closet with tons of blankets and stuff stacked on them. I guess whenever I die someone else will benefit. There's some good stuff in there.

I would just love to dig them out, fire up a turn table and get down to business, but my lack of space is seriously preventing that.

 

I'd have to do some serious reconsidering how I have my place laid out to accommodate them. It feels like such a tragic waste. If I just got up off it, I could possibly figure out a way, but not at all easy.

That is the one! It is a 30 song double album. I am pretty sure it is the only album they put out. Love it!

Pretty cool... diggin' it... if you hadn't posted this I don't think this song would've ever resurfaced in my mind in a million years. I don't even recall ever hearing the band's name before, but I remember the song. That blondish keyboard player reminds me of someone famous, but I can't place who.

 

I heard this yesterday for the first time in literally 30+ years. It was an immediate flashback to sitting in the backseat of the family station wagon when I was 7 or 8. And the video is awesome. The lead singer's little laughs, and the drummer's bouncing hair. But the topper is the Xylophone player with the onesie zipped down to his waist. Awesome.

Came across this one today by chance, man this one is good. Couldn't tell you the last time I heard it.
