Songs I haven't heard in 20 plus years!

Featured Replies

With the WEBN Fireworks going with an 80's theme this year, the station as been playing nothing but 80's/Big Hair music since Friday at 5:00 pm and going until midnight tonight. Over the course of the last couple of days I have been fortunate to hear a few songs that I forgot about and haven't heard in more than two decades. Man this stuff brings back some great memories. Anyone else in this club?

This one is 25 years old and the lead singer, Sandi Saraya, has got a "killer" voice, awesome hooks and riffs. One of the few "hair bands" to have a female fronting the band.

I'll chime in. Actually heard "Popular Girl" today for the first time in forever thanks to your post in another thread. Good stuff.

Loved Big Hair Weekend, though I'm not a big, big hair guy. (Fun sentence to diagram right there.) I enjoyed the nostalgia as much as the music. I hadn't heard any of the following in 25ish years:

Iron Maiden

Faster Pussycat

Kix

Some what they played by Ratt

Krokus

Largely mistaken as a Neil Young tune when first released in 1971, America's "Horse With No Name" was in constant rotation on this little guy's playlist.

I ran to turn up the radio every time I heard it begin, and tried to sing along while dreaming an pretending that I was the lead singer of the band.

I loved America, and they released numerous classic quality timeless tunes that probably don't get nearly the credit deserved, or the airplay that many classics of the day do.

Other notable tunes of theirs to jog your memory:

"I Need You", "Ventura Highway", "Lonely People", "Sister Golden Hair", "Sandman", "Tin Man"

This 1972 Number 1 wonderfully crafted melodically timeless, however melancholy Gilbert O'Sullivan tune "Alone Again" had this youngster, who was probably too young to have his heart trembling over it's content, lying on the kitchen floor in a contemplative ball near the radio feeling the sentiment of each and every word, fighting back tears while singing along.

One of the most moving songs of my childhood, and criminally forgotten too soon by the world at large.

When's the last time you heard this timeless beautifully performed Leo Sayer tune "When I Need You"?

I hear this and I'm back to 8th grade making out with a freshman girl at her house. Every time.
