Saw Seals & Crofts in the 70's. This one was the theme of our Senior Prom:

This was a local group that (probably) nobody here has heard - especially live - except for me. They used to play locally when I was a kid.

 

This was from my college roommate's least favorite album of mine. Perhaps for good reason. One day while he was in the shower, I hid all of his albums (600+) and placed this one in their stead. He called me a bad name.

I heard the actual "Valley Girl" song on the radio yesterday, the Zappa tune where a teenaged Moon Unit is rattling off all the VG phrases and words throughout the song. While I'm not a big Frank Zappa fan, hearing this for the first time in many, many moons brought me to laughter. It peaked at No. 32 on Billboard and became Zappa's lone Top 40 hit.

 

The song was not associated with the movie in any way, I don't believe.
