It will be interesting to see how Central and Tilghman come back from pretty big losses in opening week. Both lost to tough opponents last week and have tough opponents this week.

 

If Henry Clay beats Belfry and Bourbon County beats Warren Central, does Bourbon move to #1?

 

Corbin has a second straight difficult opponent. Pulaski handled Corbin easily last week; if Southwestern does so this week, do the Redhounds fall out of the Top 10?

I'll be surprised if Belfry beats Henry Clay. The Pirates are replacing the entire backfield and a lot of the starters that return are still young (several sophomores). Henry Clay will out-athlete Belfry and early in the season that may be enough to beat them. Belfry always starts slow early in the season. It takes a while to get timing down and everyone playing together as a unit, especially with a new QB and several other fresh faces in and out of the backfield. Fortunately for the Pirates, their philosophy of daily improvement usually has them peaking at the right time.

 

If Bourbon beats Warren Central, and Belfry loses, then Bourbon absolutely deserves to be ranked #1 at this point.

No Way Corbin or Monroe should be ranked above South Warren especially after both took losses in week 1 and South Warren beat a former top 10 ranked team.... Just disrespectful. :ohbrother:

You can certainly make an argument about Monroe...who South Warren defeated last year as well... but Corbin lost to Pulaski County who may very well be one of the Top 10 overall teams in Kentucky. Fairly sure they would have rocked South Warren just as bad if not worse.

 

Just because one team wins and another loses is never reason enough to make a team drop on its own merit. I think South Warren should be in that 7-8 range right now. Until they defeat a quality team though it is hard to move them any further.

Bowling Green beat a Mercer County team that half their starters on the bench due to injury, and half you guys are already dubbing them State champs again. Makes no sense! Agreed. South Warren has a really weak schedule. Should have added Clinton County to that powerhouse group.

Keep an eye on Lawrence Co this year. Hard to sell me they aren't a top 4 team. It's been a long long time since they've had this many athletes this deep. Great ball skills! Timmy Dalton might be the best Soph in KY. I think they had 6 different guys score Sat. Tremendous balance on this team w zero kids starting both ways.

Lawrence is definitely on the radar, stick1. I would have them in the 11-15 range right now and they have an opportunity to move themselves up but top 4? That is a pretty bold statement. Tell us more about the Bulldogs.

I wouldn't put too much stock into Louisville Central losing to Manual.

 

1) Central always plays a bunch of 6-A schools to start the season.

2) Central should get the benefit of the doubt, since they always seem to bounce back from early losses to teams which would beat 80 percent of any team's schedule.

3) DuPont Manual is really, really good this year. Word out of Louisville is this is their best team in a while.

 

 

Don't sleep on E'town, either. I expect them to be top-10 in 3-A this year, especially if they beat Louisville Central, South Warren and Glasgow.

 

E'town beat Fort Knox 20-6, but it was in 13 min. E'town ran 8 plays total and had five possessions. Fumbled ball away in red zone first possession, then scored next three possessions. Was in red zone a minute into second quarter when game was called.
