Still, 6 years ago these kids would end up at BW.

Why don't they go there anymore?

His family moved to independence

How does this work. I thought Kenton Cty was an open district. So another loop hole in the KHSAA system.

No bus service to the schools you are not in the district of. This leaves you the reason of transportation issues for the change in schools.

Not a loophole that I can see. While they are open district each school does have a defined district. Report is the kid's family moved from one school district to SK's school district which would seem to meet the requirement.

In this case, that would be wrong too. The family moved, and he did try to stay. Consistent transportation could not be worked out, and he bit the bullet and made the move. Besides, while Miller is a very good football player, he is a stud wrestler, currently ranked number 1 in the state in his weight class. This move has a much bigger wrestling impact than football. In football he'll be missed at Scott, but can be replaced, and at SK he'll help, but probably won't be a difference maker (don't get me wrong, he is a very good football player). In wrestling, he is irreplaceable at Scott, and elevates SK to a higher level. A potential state champ wrestler would never have chosen Beechwood. Again, football had absolutely nothing to do with the move.

Interesting to me that Ryle made the top 10 after two back to back miserable seasons.

If he went to Scott, I'm assuming he lives in Kenton County School district. Kenton County is open enrollment therefore he could attend any of the three KC schools.

Now each school does have their own district so if he moved into SK's area, that's the school he is assigned. In order to go to a different KC school, you have to apply before school year, the school must have a spot for you, you must be in good standing at previous school (grades/discipline), no problems, etc., etc. This has to be done every year. Then I believe some monies are traded around between the schools.

Don't forget that SK is full and is not accepting open enrollment from outside their area.

Yeah, Campbell County would have been a better choice.

Wow!! Just like Austin Richardson last year! That is two high profile transfers in a row! Could it be that SK has become a transfer destination????

This had nothing to do with football.

Since Kenton County has open enrollment, couldn't he have just stayed at Scott?

Could have, yes. However, his district is now Simon Kenton.

Yes. And he tried. Transportation issues are what is being stated as the issue, and from what I've heard, the issues are legit. Again, he's a big time wrestler, and just a pretty good football player (although I'd take him on my team any day). IF the move was sports related (and by all accounts it wasn't), it would be about wrestling...that's the sport he playing at the next level. Maybe I'm naive, but I don't think this is about sports in any way, shape, or form. He gains nothing in either sport by going to SK. Football wise, he is likely better off at Scott...he knows the system, and would have been a focal part of the defense. At SK, he's just another good player and may have to change positions. Wrestling wise, he's a favorite to win a state title no matter where he's at.
