It's not a bad idea. In fact, it's a very good one. Do you know what I normally do between the semifinals and final.....waste time. Like the rest of us who are there in Lexington. Now, I have a game to go to. So the kids playing on Saturday won't be there but there will be plenty to fill in. Should be a fun game and a great charity!

 

East in a romp someone said? Ummm, I was going to say West rolls just looking at these two rosters.

I cant wait to watch this game take place. I am going to be cheering the East on, but in reality, West should come out on top. Id say it will be a high scoring game.

The timing of the game don't make much sense.

Tyler Rich is definently a good roll player. I'd say they pick by talent, and possible college prospects. I dont see Rich playing center or guard in college. Not quick enough to play guard or forward, has absolutely no handles, and cant shoot farther than 3 feet from the basket. He cant play center because he doesnt have the height. I think the two they chose from the 14th are the most athletic, and best all around ball players the 14th senior class has to offer. Im not knocking Rich a bit, i like to watch this kid bit and bang. This is just reality. HECK, he will probably be at the state tourney anyway... HUH!

I disagree, but that's what forums are about. While I don't mean to knock Robert in anyway, he's a great kid, I don't think he is the "best" the fourteenth has to offer,but obviously I wasn't on a selection comittee.

I'm beginning to sound like a broken record with this, but I think the selections from the 5th should have included Brian Calhoun. He is more versatile than Stallworth, and can take over a game. JMHO. Brian is one of the top athletes in the state, got ignored in football, looks as if he will get ignored in basketball, too. I guess there's always track.

Looks like they got the selections correct for the 16th region. Owens and McCowan are the best seniors that the 16th has to offer.

Sort of a silly time to be playing this game to say the least not to mention that a number of the youngmen selected to play in this game could very well be playing in the State Tourney and would certainly not be able to attend any type of practice. Quite possibly 2 or 3 could even be playing for the Ky State Championship. What am I missing here? Just doesn't seem to make much sense at all from a timing stand point.

That is exactly what the originators of this tournament are thinking. How can we make money??? Lets see... lets get the top players from each region who may or may not make it to the Semi's / Finals of the state tournament and let them play during the afternoon of the Final. There will be tons of Basketball fans in the Lexington area that weekend who would love to have something to do during the day. A great idea IMO if you are strictly thinking from a Marketing perspective. Do they care if 2 or 3 of these players are not there? NO, they do care that probably 90% of them will be there and that it will bring out fans like us.

Sounds a lot like playing the MLB All-Star Game between games 2 and 3 of the World Series.

Hope you are right. Usually by Saturday people have just about had their fill of basketball, especially those like myself who go for the entire tounament. People usually go back to their hotels and relax and eat between the Semis and the finals. If possible I'm going to try to make it over. I hope attendance is good for this event but until I see it I will at least remain skeptical.

I would have liked to seen Kevin Allen from North Oldham on the roster. Congrats to the kids that made it!

Actually 6ft and somewhere in the higher 200's Gray hair and glasses and I will have my State Tournament Hat from last year or a black Ludlow hat on most of the time. Probably will have a clipboard with me as I sometimes keep stats for the Panthers. Very much a diehard..Can't get enough of high school basketball. ..Hate to see it end. Make sure you say hello if you have achance.

Sounds good Zig... goodluck tonight.... It will be my first chance to see the Panthers and Penick. I am a small school grad so I usually pull for the underdog but I am a converted cakeater so I have to go with the Birds.

I saw Kevin dropped 32 points last night in the first round of the Regionals.

If they end up with an extra spot somebody really needs to lead them in the direction of Shawn Thompson at Lawrence Co. I think he ended up averaging a double double this year in points and boards. The last game I saw he had 26 points and 22 boards. I think he's the most underrated player in the state and VERY ARGUABLY THE BEST PLAYER IN THE 15th REGION!
