August 10, 201412 yr … does it really have to be a million percent humidity every single day? Getting tired of just sitting around sweating. :isurrender: Just rain already and blow through.

August 10, 201412 yr Author No AC in your home/apartment? Yes, but stepping out of the shower and having to dry off twice gets real freakin' old. I try to spend as much time as possible out on the back porch, though. Work will require me to be outside in the heat every day very soon, so I've been trying to get as acclimated to it as I can. But it doesn't matter if it's 70 or 95 — if it's humid, I'm sweating. Even when I was back at my "fighting weight" of 235 and in the best shape of my life.
August 10, 201412 yr Feeling it as well...I've been taking a small hand towel with me out the door to work way too frequently this summer. Maybe there's something to that whole dry heat concept vs. mild temps and high humidity. Fans have made a good nights sleep!

August 10, 201412 yr You can always put on more layers to warm up (winter) but there's only so much you can take off before they'll arrest you (summer). It's my common refrain but it remains truer and truer all the time. Winter is so much better than summer. Thankfully we're just about 3-5 weeks from fall finally stepping in.

Great minds think alike.

Once winter sets in, I'm miserably cold and stiff till spring, no matter how many layers.
August 10, 201412 yr I disagree 100%. Once winter sets in, I'm miserably cold and stiff till spring, no matter how many layers. I'm with you rockmom. Winter sucks, fall is just okay. I guess my favorite season is spring followed closely by summer.
August 10, 201412 yr I think this summer has been great. Pretty mild for the most part, and we've only had the air on about 1/2 the summer. Haven't really noticed the humidity at all. Being from the Mid-Atlantic states, the humidity here, even when its bad, is tolerable. The humidity is one thing I don't miss from home.

But since August turned, every day seems soupy to me.
August 10, 201412 yr I disagree 100%. Once winter sets in, I'm miserably cold and stiff till spring, no matter how many layers. This makes no sense. How can you continue to be cold if you put on enough clothes? Anyone can warm up with enough clothes or blankets and pretty much everyone has heat, you're not living in the wilderness. :lol2: I have a coat that would warm anyone in the dead of winter. No lack of clothing can keep you cool in hot humid weather if you have no AC, and many people have no AC.

No amount of clothing can warm me from the biting cold, the damp cold, any kind of cold. It is positively miserable.

Compared to the summer we had a year or two ago, where we had a gazillion days above 90, this has been very, very good. There have been many, many nights where we have slept with the windows open and the fans on, versus buttoning everything up just to run the AC. I'll take it.
August 11, 201412 yr This has been one of the mildest summers I can remember. I had the air off for 2 weeks in July, unheard off in KY.
