BTW PP, do you really think a white person supporting the police officer who may or may not be innocent in Ferguson is actually similar to a black person going to a KKK rally? In this situation, sadly, I think they are similar. The emotions that would come from someone showing support for Officer Wilson in that area could have deadly circumstances. Some of those normal everyday people in Ferguson are gang bangers, racists, criminals and really don't care at this point. Especially the ones out at night. Multiple reports have said there are two different crowds of protesters in the day and night. Those two people are lucky the police got them out when they did.

Can someone please get Fox News to quit saying Officer Wilson was beaten "nearly unconscious"? I wouldn't think that people who are beaten "nearly unconscious" have the mental capacity to fire off 6 shots and even if they do you'll have a hard time convincing that to the skeptics.

They should edit that out. I'm thinking someone nearly unconscious is laying on the ground or something and not in a firing position unless they are just one super tough person. Which could be the case. I feel another round of Facebook arguments about being nearly unconscious coming soon.

It's a shame these 50 pages couldn't come up with a solution to racism or exactly what happened in Ferguson.

Not sure if this has been added or not, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say that this is nowhere in the police training manual. ACLU got involved yesterday and the officer is now off duty. No matter how you feel about it, this isn't really the way to go about handling things and a loose cannon like this dude aiming guns and saying "I'll [explicative] kill you" probably isn't the way to go about it.

 

If the officer pulls the trigger there, think of all the people he puts in danger. Think of all the people he's putting in danger just by saying that regardless. Think of what happens if he pulls the trigger a few times and there are 5-10 camera phones sending footage to news stations tomorrow (or news cameras there filming themselves who pass the footage on). If you think things are bad now, imagine what they'd have been like then.

I know and completely understand that there are valid personal reasons as to why police who do a very dangerous and thankless job have a distrust of the average citizen in a situation like this. Along those lines, I would say the same for citizens who are exercising their rights and not doing anything unlawful who have a distrust for police. Incidents like these are the reason why.

 

If you are the person in the video who has a gun pointed at you and an officer saying "I'll [explicitive] kill you" before one of his seemingly more level-headed colleagues comes over and defuses the situation, then you probably aren't going to be very trusting of officers in the future, solely based on that incident. Whether or not that's reasonable, I think that I can at least understand how it happens.

I read that officer had been there 4 straight days working at least 12 hours each day and had urine and rocks thrown at him. I can not say this is true but someone on another sure claimed his chief said that. He's apparently an 18 year police officer from another smaller department near by.

 

Doesn't excuse his behavior, but police snap sometimes to. They did the right thing removing him from the situation.

This was among one of the more stupid and pointless articles I have ever read. At some point, in the article, the writer refers to the subject as a former Burger King worker?....give me a break. So basically because of this incident, every white person in control in Ferguson is a racist and is to blame. Is that the writer and your point?

Put yourself in that situation? Think you'd be mad? Think you might want to talk to a lawyer afterwards?

 

We're talking about an unlawful arrest here. Not really something to take very lightly. An "ooops, we're sorry" when you've taken it as far as beating a dude who had no reason to be arrested and charging him with bleeding on your uniform as "property damage" isn't really something that's going to get a lot of sympathy with a civil jury.

One thing I have taken from all of these discussions:

 

GOOD police officers, who I have only a general idea of what they probably make, are very underpaid. Dangerous job that will put you in tons of hazardous situations. Check. Underappreciated. Check. Constantly second guessed. Check. With great power comes great responsibility, and again, I said GOOD police officers.

For sure. That's one of the many reasons I would probably be an awful cop. Someone throws urine at me, I don't care if I'm head of the FBI, I'm probably going to need to be restrained if I think I know who did it and can catch them.

For all of our Constitutional scholars (especially those in favor of the 2nd Amendment like myself), what does the Bill of Rights say about a free press?

 

 

The video above shows me a news team trying to do a report with a tear gas canister billowing smoke directly around them. I don't see anyone else in the vicinity. No violence. No rioting. No looters. A news team trying to do a report in a docile setting-- that's what I see.

 

Like I said pages and pages ago in this thread, I'm starting to look at the whole thing as two separate incidents, the first being the act itself, the second being the news and police's response to it.

 

Sorry if I don't think this is the Soviet Empire or some facist State where the media is strictly controlled. I'll watch the news and make an educated and informed opinion about what I see and won't watch the stations that continually shovel out drivel, but I think that our country is founded on principals wherein even the stations that shovel out drivel have a right to broadcast and that people have a right to hear or watch it and make up their minds for themselves.

Can we get the Governor of Missouri, the Congressman of that district, CNN and MSNBC to stop calling the shooting a murder and calling for the prosecution of the officer and justice for Michael Brown?

 

How about justice period? Whether it be an indictment or them declining to prosecute.

 

The truth is, anything short of the death penalty for this Officer will not satisfy those that are calling for his head.
