I hear all kinds of stories about how local law enforcement doesn't like to cede authority to the feds. Maybe that's fiction; I do read a lot of crime fiction.

 

I hope it's not a sign of the times if this incident is "routine".

 

FBI investigation of use of police force (not only deadly) goes back decades. I can vouch that this is not a new concept.

I don't know what happened in this situation yet, so I won't comment on it....another tragedy nonetheless.

 

However, if the populace wants to get upset, why wait until a policeman kills a person? There are plenty of opportunities to deal with an even bigger issue. It amazes me that violence especially that related to drugs and gangs is not discussed and treated at the national level like the epidemic that it is...and minorities are paying the heaviest toll.

 

In Chicago alone, more than 270 children have been killed since 2007. And most of them were killed by other blacks, as are most of the nation's

homicide victims. But the responsibility for this violence -- and the obligation to do something about it -- belongs to all of us.

Those aren't protesters. Those are criminals. Don't confuse the two. Protesters don't loot nor do they encourage it.

Is it time for another one of the discussions about the cycle of life in the black community?

How often are white people killed by police officers in comparison to black people? If you want the FBI to investigate a shooting, call them.

I don't see the world through a black and white prism. Most criminal laws and most crimes are local. I don't care what race a victim is, I don't want the federal government involved in routine shootings that are solvable and should be solved by state and local authorities.

 

(I am not opposed to the federal government becoming involved in clear cut cases of rampant, orgainized corruption by state government and crimes that involve interstate criminal organizations.)

 

Ferguson, MO's population is over 65 percent black. I don't believe that all those black voters have been duped into electing a city government that has hired a bunch of racist police officers.

 

If they have, then they share the responsibility for what has happened in Ferguson and they should be protesting in front of the homes of the mayor and city council members instead of destroying their own neighborhoods and turning innocent business owners into victims.

Ferguson police are going to release the name of the officer involved in the shooting in the next day or so.

Tear gas and rubber bullets being used in some areas tonight.

Have they released the autopsy report yet determining how many times he was actually shot?
