My opinion of the scrimmage. It seems the heat took a lot out of a couple of players early. The cool days for practice didn't help any. Offensive line has some work to do. Metal mistakes will be fixed just by more reps in practice. The running game will be stout and is very deep. QB is young and will get better with more practice. He really gives Mayfield another weapon with his running ability. It will give the opposing defensive coach something else to worry about. He threw some good balls and missed on a few. The defense looked real good. They gave up a few long balls but they put a stop to that with putting another player on Milan's best receiver. This is going to be a special group by the time the playoffs start.

I thought we looked pretty good. I am very encouraged with this group. QB threw some pretty nice balls...hurt not having the Bacon kid in...with his height... He will make a good target for Arnett because he will be easy for him to see and with his height, he can bail Arnett out on throwing in to tight coverage deep like last night by being able to go up high and catch some of those. Kennemore and Tucker looked good...Tyler will he dangerous if he gets a step on any defender...blazing speed. Line play had some mental mistakes that will shore up pretty quickly with more practice. All in all I like where the QB is and when all the parts get on the field...i like our chances late making anothe run to Bowling Green

A few early season thoughts...

*QB is really vertically challenged and passing down field will, more times than not, come from his rolling out. Just not tall enough to go over the top and see well over our bigger line.

*A lot of air under some of the 20 to 30yd passes. Going to need to get some zip on these throws. Several balls were up for grabs for either team. Gotta work on the tunnel vision, threw right he was looking on several occasions.

*Throws a nice ball and his speed will give us another diminision to our offense.

*Good battle developing at the RB spot this year. Bright still needs to find a stutter step or something on a regular basis, speed won't do it all. Future for Tyler is promising. Hope he can find his way into the offense on a regular basis.

*Kudos to the new kicker Herndon. 44 yard field goal right down the middle with 6 or 7 yards to spare. He's made great strides in the off season .

*finally, nice job by Milan. Size and speed at the skill positions. They will be a force again in Tennessee.

Good post

What is the expectation for Milan and how much dis they return?

Hasn't Mayfield essentially dominates Milan in this scrimmage the past couple seasons?

I just saw on CoachT.com that Milan was ranked #4 in the 3a preseason coaches poll, behind Alcoa, CPA and CAK, so, apparently, they're expected to be pretty good this year.

That is just on the past. Milan was down last year missing the playoffs. Hard to say how accurate that prediction is.

They looked pretty good to me

I can think of no better judge than the coaches and I am sure of one thing, they are much improved

I don't doubt that. I didn't think they would stay down long.
