August 12, 201412 yr Watching Air Jaws: Fins of Fury and this kid (Dickie) is climbing out on that fake decoy. I can't believe they're letting him do that. You couldn't pay me enough to do something like that. Doesn't really make sense to do something like that to begin with, because I'd imagine if they were trying to act like a female shark to attract a giant male, they'd need to secrete some type of smell.
August 12, 201412 yr I hate when they try to pawn off fake things as documentaries. I made it about three minutes into the Sumbarine show and deleted it off the DVR. Why do you think that is fake? Never mind. I looked it up :thumb:
August 12, 201412 yr I hate the mockumentaries. It goes completely against the Discovery Channel's supposed message of shark conservation to use a 30-40 great white shark to scare people.
August 12, 201412 yr To make it worse several of the scientists featured in these mockumentaries had their answers to interview questions spliced together and edited to look like they were willing participants in the shows. They did not know the actual subject matter and were not participating in a search of these giant sharks. Shark Week Lied to Scientists to Get Them to Appear in "Documentaries" I'm thinking about skipping Shark Week as long as they do this stuff. The Nat Geo Channel has some cool shark shows as well...
August 12, 201412 yr I'm totally against putting out fake "documentaries" like this. I'm an avid shark fisherman and I think they are fascinating enough without having to make up fake ones.

August 12, 201412 yr Author One of my favorites was on a few years ago. A smaller boat would hook a great white and then take it over to a larger ship with this huge platform they would lover into the water to lift the shark so the scientist could measure and tag the sharks and return them to the water in just a few minutes. They caught some huge great whites and were able to tag them and track them. Not sure if it was Shark Week or another channel

It showed the group OCEARCH as the hunted and tagged Great Whites for research. On a side note does anyone have their Shark Tracker App from iTunes? I bought it as soon as I heard about it. Very cool to follow the various sharks as they move about. I've watched one female Great White, Katherine get tagged off of Massachusetts, move all the way down the east coast, go around Florida, hang out in the Gulf of Mexico and now start back up the east coast.

August 13, 201412 yr Dang it, there's a 16' great white shark right off the coast of Hilton Head this morning. Why can't be on the water? Stupid work smh. #SharkWeek
