"The Walking Dead" Season 5

They say books are always better than the movie.

I may use that as the reason I don't like to read and I enjoy TWD.

TAC: My Life On The Front Row will certainly be a lot better in print than on the screen.

Randy touched on a lot of what I dislike about the show. Season two was awful like the last half of last season.

I hope they get back to being good again this season or I might quit watching.

The "look at the flowers" episode was horrible imo. Just not good writing, at least to me.

Also can't stand how stupid they make these people and other little things like how a zombie can sneak up on someone in the woods with dry leaves everywhere....there's more but it would take too much time to type on my phone.

Again I hope this season is good. I miss looking forward to the show but I'm afraid it will go the way of true blood or Dexter for me....I watched but only bc I invested too much time not to see the end.

We're big fans as well, except for the second half of last season. My wife and I both thought the second half was awful.

I agree it was slower than I liked. But it still had its moments of excellence. The episodes with Rick Carl or Darrell were my favorites. If anything was to happen to any of those three I might reconsider my loyalty to the show. :lol2:

If they do away with Daryl anytime soon, I'm out. Now that The Governor is gone, he is the only character I really care about.

I'm with ya RP. Daryl is just awesome. I'd place Carl second. I like his swag during a zombie apocalypse.

Just a side note has anyone been wondering about Beth's whereabouts or nah?? Personally it dosent matter to me if she comes back or not. I just don't think she is cut out for that life and if it wasn't for everyone saving her butt all the time she would been dead at the end of season 2.

I'd really love to read the comics or the novels idk how close the three go with each other but at least it would give some insight to where the tv series is goin. How many season will they keep this goin? I think at least 10. Carls grows up to lead the next generation into a world of dead bodies walking around. But one has to think that as long as the survivors survive and they keep killin zombies maybe the zombies will finally be eradicated? :idunno:

The comics & novels go together. I think the final novel (#4) was just released. I've read two of them & the first one was really good, second one pretty good. The novels, though, focus almost exclusively on The Governor and not all of the comic characters, but the novel world is the same as the comic world. If that makes sense.

Comics are great & I'm a bit behind on those. I'm guessing there are over 125 comics at this point. Best way to read them, if you've never read any, is to buy the 2 compendiums. Each compendium contains 48 single issues. Will probably cost around $35 per compendium. The first compendium will cover the story from the beginning to The Governor's death, just to give you an idea.

The main similarities between the comics & TV show are the various settings: Atlanta, Hershel's farm, Prison, etc. A lot of the characters are in both, but the characters are different when they hit the TV show. Occasionally they will have something happen to a character on TV that happened to a different character in the comic. An example would be Hershel getting his leg chopped on the TV show. That was Dale in the comics.

There are TV characters that die a lot sooner than they do in the comics & there are TV characters stay alive a lot longer than they do in the comics.

Of course, Daryl is the main TV character who doesn't even exist in the comic book version. T-Dog would be another one who isn't in the comics.

I like both because it's the same story involving mostly the same characters and settings, but the stories develop in different ways. But you are right that you can sometimes get an idea for where the TV story is going by reading the comics.

If the TV show introduces a main villain from the comics...well...it'll be interesting to see how they portray him.

Thanks for the compendium idea will def look into that! I had heard Daryl wasn't in the comics and was surprised by that. I've also heard there are some pretty nasty ppl yet to be mentioned in the series and if the do decide to use them it indeed will be interesting from what I've heard not having read the comics.

Variety reviews the Season 5 premiere & it has me excited:

After the (rather too) long and winding road to Terminus, "The Walking Dead" opens its fifth season in spectacular fashion, a dazzling adrenaline rush filled with suspense, righteous violence and, before it’s all over, genuine emotion. Imbued with cinematic touches, the only downside to this breathtaking episode is pondering what the creative brain trust can do for an encore.

The wife and I love TWD.

The 2nd half of season 4 was junk and I have a feeling that they "jump the shark" in season 5. Nothing to back that up really, just a feeling.

Just hasn't been the same since T-Dogg left.

I liked him but I haven't missed him very much really.

The marathon is on if anyone is interested. I've DVR'd all of them so I will wait and watch the last couple episodes on Sunday before the new season kicks off. Can't wait!!

I'm recording the one where Lori dies. Going to watch it over & over again.

You forget until you rewatch it how good the very first episode is. And also how much I hate Lori.

I am really excited for Sunday. Has been was too long to get this show going again.
