How about you, does the playoff format increase your interest in college football? Hard to say until we see how it works out. If there are 7 teams with 1 loss from the major conferences and 2 teams with 0 losses from non-major conferences and the whole thing is a big mess then maybe I won't be that excited. I can think of a lot of situations where it could be a mess but maybe there will be 4 undefeated teams at the end of the year and it all works out.
July 19, 201412 yr It'll increase my interest in other conferences late in the year I would imagine. I was likely too watch big ACC games anyway, just as I did with the Big East and American in the past.

I can't wait until the first neutral site round of 16 playoff game with 23,000 people, followed by days of everyone feigning shock and surprise that people can't afford to travel themselves and their families potentially 4 times in December / January (5 times if you count conference championship games). Yeah...who could have seen that coming.
July 21, 201412 yr I'd like to see 16, with power conf. champs getting 1st round bye with lower conf and at large games played in 'early' bowls...think motorcity, liberty, poinsettia, citrus, gator. Next round would be sugar, cotton, orange, rose with final four at Fiesta and championship game to rotate.

Yeah...who could have seen that coming. I would do home games just like Pro Football and I am pretty sure the venues would be packed. The issue is the whole Bowl Structure. In a perfect world the Bowls would all be done away with then D1 college football would have it right like every other level of college football and pro football.

Always have been... If they go to 16 the bowls will be incorporated into the structure, which I know you know (and alluded), so that is understood. Therefore, with four (five for Conference Championship games) neutral site games in a row, travel / attendance is going to be a very real issue. Those bowls generate a TON of money for their communities, their attached charities, and fat-cat bowl chairmen, so eliminating those are not going to happen. I'm not sure why your interest in college hoops from Labor day to Thanksgiving has anything to do with how a National Champion is decided, but so be it. I've never been one to rail on the BCS system, I don't hate the every game matters mentality nor the "it is hard for the little guy to be included" structure. The debate for the BCS from week 9 through the first of December was always entertaining. Since the bowls aren't going away, the expansion of the "playoff" will be a major issue as Bob and Shirley Booster can only go to so many games 500 miles away.

Do I feel for the parents of kids that can't travel back to back weeks across the country, sure. But not as much as I feel we should crown a true National Champion.

Thanks for the quick breakdown of the failure of college football. Only the product is so good it can never really fail. Again, here is to hoping for a major controversy at the end of the year.

I can't remember the last time I disagreed with you on something, so I guess we were due, but it matters THAT much to you? So if a few years ago a 3rd team, left out of the BCS National Championship game, may have beaten the two teams in the Championship, that is really a huge problem? In the grand scheme of things, I just can't get my feathers ruffled about not having a "true National Champion" in college football. So you'd rather have 16 teams in a playoff then the current bowl structure where 60+ teams of young men get to go to a bowl game with their families and build memories for life? All in the name of the "true National Champion"? I don't get the uproar, I'll 100% watch either way, but I'm okay with the current structure. I guess I'm in the minority.
