Mason County's Chris Lofton being inducted to Hall Of Fame!

Featured Replies

Was just wondering, outside of the local folks, is it widely recognized that Lofton excelled on the gridiron also?

First team (I think) all-state wide receiver his senior year.

But in my defense, I am a local folk.

Well Deserved! Such a pure shooter! Would have loved to have heard his "string music" in Rupp during his college career!

One of my favorites. Great honor for him.

I've posted the following in another thread before, and while it pertains to Lofton's teammates as well as him, it seems fitting to post here again.

I had a guy that wasn't from the area tell me this after watching Mason Co. when Lofton was a junior. He said he had heard all the "fuss" about that team, so he decided to go watch them play. He got there during warmups and as he was watching them, he thought to himself, they don't look very imposing at all. Then, he said, as soon as the ball went in the air, he realized what all the "fuss" was about.

Great player.

Even greater human being.

I am a big fan of Lofton. Congratulations to him for this honor.

Here is another great article from The local newspaper on the HOF induction. Well written piece and just reinforces all the comments about his personality and demeaner throughout his basketball career. Aspires to be a coach when his playing days are done and a fine coach he will be one day.

Hard work pays off for Lofton in Hall of Fame induction

Same here. Thrilled for him.

Chris is a great person because he came from two great parents. They are both the nicest people in the world am am very happy to call them good friends!

I took a couple of pictures of Chris, but the one with Mark Story's story (did I say that right?) was better. What a kick to be around, not only the inductees, but the dozens of other coaches and former players who were there.

Having said that, I'm surprised that the theatre in Elizabethtown isn't absolutely packed for the festivities. One $25 ticket gets you into the reception AND the video/individual player presentation. During the former you can mill around with the other visitors for an hour-and-a-half...and have access to all of the inductees for pictures, autographs and conversation. It's a fabulous gathering.

This x2. I was going to post the exact thing.
