Best Running Backs in NKY

Which is why I always laugh a bit whenever a certain SK fan says, well Powell only played a half of this game or 3 qtrs of that game or only a little more than a qtr in that game. Well it's because the competition wasn't that good and if it were a closer game then he probably wouldn't have the yards and TD's he had that game.

For instance Cordell-Armstrong had 182 yards in only 1 1/2 qtrs that he played of the Grant Co game this past Friday night. Does anyone think he would have that many yards if it were Ryle or Highlands? So whenever someone says so and so only played a half, well that so and so player wouldn't have had those yards if it was against better competition.

That's why it's so hard to look at numbers. But you have to have some kind of measuring stick.

True, I like to see film, that tells you if the back has vision, good feet, power, speed, is he elusive. Can he use his blocks? Can he pass block , catch ? It's still a judgment call, but the better backs can do most of those well and against good competition.

Powell had 125 yards in the first quarter against Collins and then left game when he injured his ankle.

thanks hb thats exactly the point I was trying to make in my above post. You made it much better and more succinctly than I did

Powell had 125 yards in the first quarter against Collins and then left game when he injured his ankle.

You proved my point. Collins has a losing record this year, they aren't very good uk#1fan. The sooner you learn that teams change year to year the better it will be to understand this. Cooper went to the title game in 2012 and only won 3 games in 2013....teams change.

I have no problem looking at numbers, but numbers can not be the only deciding factor unless the players all played the same schedule.

that is why, if anyone wants to go back and look at my original post in here, that I had listed in order of my top 3 being

1. England

2. Powell

3. Cordell-Armstrong

even though Cordell-Armstrong has the most yards out of the 3, I placed him 3rd and not 1st.

If all 3 of these guys were on the same team....let's use a team none of them are currenlty on. Lets put them all on Dixie's team with Dixie's line. I would say I wouldn't be surprised if Armstrong still had more yards because he is a better open field runner imo. England is so good because he is a power runner and will simply run over people and on Dixie's team I think he would have even more yards than he has now because he instead of first running over linemen, his first contact would be in the secondary and Powell I would think of as as very similar results as he has with SK who has a big strong line but is playing smaller lines each and every week of the season except for maybe Dixie.

Argue, argue argue this crap is getting quite tiresome actually. Some of you guys act like 5 year old kids

It's just a thread asking who we think are the top RB's I don't see arguing.

You do know these threads are for fun and entertainment purposes only right?

OK, I made it back, How's the England kid doing, is he going to play next week? What times the Cooper/Dixie game tonight? Who's going.

I will be at the Cooper/Dixie game but not really counting on a good game.

Utrasound showed no tear, just a little strained. He should be able to play next week with no problems as long as he keeps it warmed up. Perfect week for the Bye week to be.

Great to hear! I was impressed with him during the first half of the Dixie game. I had read quite a bit going in about how good he was and he lived up to it. His elusiveness really impressed me.

Good luck next week!

Game is at 7 tonight. I'll be there after I get out of class; my exam starts at 615 so I'm hoping to make it right around the start of the game.

Yeah but that does not mean they aren't the best backs either. They did what they were suppose to do against the lower level competition and it is not their fault for who is in their district or who is on their schedule. I will go one further here and say Latimore starts for any team in the state at some position on their team.

1) Powell- SK

1A) England- Ryle

1B) Zajac- Dixie

ANYBODY else. sorry Cooper, Walton Verona, NCC, Beechwood, it's just how it is!
