It would seem to me your reasoning is precisely wrong. The last Democratic president was impeached over an investigation into his sex life. His successor, a Republican, was deeply unpopular and mired himself in more than a few major scandals - not the least of which sent the country into a ruinous war under mostly false pretenses, grossly expanded the scope of executive power through dubious legal interpretations to validate his torture regime, and several other lower grade scandals like the firing of US Attorneys and hiding the evidence through the now familiar "lost emails" defense, among others - and no serious effort was made to impeach him. How many times have elected Republicans advocated or attempted to impeach Obama? And he still has two years left for them to follow through. As to your claim, it would seem just the opposite is true.

The last president to be impeached lied to a federal judge under oath during a deposition. No amount of revisionist history will change that fact.

That is why Obama is safe from impeachment. There are too few honorable Democrats in Congress to deliver such a message. (VP Biden is also a nice insurance policy against Obama's impeachment.)

No, because the current GOP leadership has no backbone. They are scared to death of being branded racists, no matter what outrageous, unconstitutional action Obama takes. What I am saying is that if Obama was a white Republican president, the would be impeached for obstruction of justice and there would be many Republicans supporting the impeachment, just as they would have supported the impeachment of Nixon. Can anybody envision Harry Reid ever voting to convict Obama of anything? I certainly can't.

I don't think any argument that begins with the position that Clinton was impeached because of an investigation into his sex life is credible. Clinton committed perjury.

 

I personally think that Republicans should have pursued other charges against the Clintons, such as hundreds of FBI files on prominent Republicans that were obtained by Craig Livingstone (who testified under oath that he could not remember who hired him) - but perjury is a pretty serious offense. Clinton's wise choice to follow Dick Morris's political advice saved his skin, IMO. For that, I give him credit.

Nixon resigned in the face of certain impeachment. You may think that being forced to resign in disgrace is nothing, but it is a pretty severe blow to a sitting president who won re-election in a landslide election.

I suggest studying the history of presidential impeachments before posting on the subject. Boehner is one of the best friends that Obama has in the House. There is a near zero chance of Obama being impeached.
