Right. So all those Visiting teams should have just been all out of sorts in years past playing weekday Day games that weren't get away games and the Cubs should have just whipped up on them.

 

About the only disadvantage I could see for the Cubs playing more day games is that the Cub players have more opportunity to go out to dinner and clubbing than the other major league teams.

This is pointless. At least PP can see where it would be a disadvantage instead of having a knack for pointing out the obvious, which is the Cubs don't have very many good players this year. Ortiz stated players don't want to sign with the Cubs due to day games. I've pointed out the amount of day games plays with an internal clock of the course of a season. And everyone keeps talking about the weather when no one has said that it's a,contributing factor. Objectively viewing the topic would make too much sense. Just point out the Cubs are in last place. They suck and have for a while. Sweet

Scott Rolen discussed this topic a few years ago. He claims that veterans who have kids struggle with the schedule because they are home at 6:00 and have to actually do parental things. Where as during night games they sleep or send their kids to school, then go to ballpark, then get home after kids are in bed.

The other thing nobody has mentioned is just how much of a grind the major league season is to begin with. Now throw in the schedule variances the Cubs have that no other team has to deal with, the theory really does make some sense. Again I know a handful of former major league ball players. None of them get up before 11am on a regular basis during the season.

I could buy it if the Cubs played only Day games and everyone else played only Night games. But 81 of the Cubs games are exactly the same as every other team (Away games) and the other 81 are a mixture of day and night games.........just like every other team. Now they may play 30-

38 night games of 81 home games when everyone else plays 50 of the 81 home games.....but I can't see that being a reason a free agent player would not sign with them.

 

Heck free agents don't even seem to consider the actual ballpark they are going to play in and whether it fits their game which should be the first thing they should think about.
