June 24, 201412 yr I think they all opt out to sign at lower deals (Lebron, Wade, and Bosh). Looks like the plan is coming into focus, it appears they will all come back at lower rates and try to make some tweaks to the roster. Now if this all falls apart I can see Lebron going somewhere else, but as long as they get a couple more guys who can help on the roster I see them all coming back to Miami. That would be impressive if it happens but I still don't understand the whole opting out to do so. Is there something in the CBA that doesn't allow them to just restructure their contracts whenever they want? Why the whole opt out charade just to take less money?

For some reason I think it is a CBA thing, which is different from the NFL which allows restructuring. i would guess if they all opt out they already have a number from Riley that they will be resigned at that is acceptable to them.
June 24, 201412 yr If they all 3 do opt out that push the pressure squarely on Riley to get the pieces they need in place. LeBron still has the hammer of being able to got pretty much wherever he wants to if Pat doesn't get this right.
June 24, 201412 yr Read that LeBron opted out a week earlier than the deadline so teams (including the Heat) had the necessary time to clear cap space to make a run at him. Doesn't sound like something someone simply restructuring their contract would do. JMO :idunno:

I think he wants to return but realizes that the Heat need to make some changes and this gives them no excuse not to do what needs to be done...he's placed all of the pressure on the Heat and Riley.

By opting out he can structure the deal just how he wants it. Probably reconstructing a max deal has it's limitations on just how much you can lower the deal. LeBron has all the leverage, which is exactly how he wants it.

What I read was that it was reported to Wojo from sources close to LeBron.

As long as it's up in the air he has all of the leverage. #hecouldbegone

If he acts like he's coming back regardless they won't be as aggressive making moves. If they think they are going to lose him they will do everything in their power to get a championship team in place and that's what he wants. It's certainly not about the money he would have had more by opting in.
