May 31, 201412 yr Jerry Brown: ‘LAX Must Be Moved Due to Rising Seas From Global Warming’ then ‘Oh, Never Mind’ Even if the water levels do rise 4 feet (and they have been much higher in the past) LAX is over 100 feet above (current) sea level. LAX is safe from relatively minor ocean level variations according to those who looked into the statement.
May 31, 201412 yr Wow, interesting. I knew that global warming/climate change was something we needed to pay serious attention to but I didn't know it was this serious.

Obama has won two national elections. There really are people out there who believe as Elmer does and they number in the millions or we would have never even heard of Obama.

Great point - Obama won two national elections. He is our president and I am proud of it. There are a lot of people out there who believe just like me...a lot of my college professors/mentors for a few. I just don't think people in this area have seen enough of it to be truly able to open their minds and broaden their knowledge.

Never heard more closed minded, unenlightened drivel in my life.

I'll bite…enlighten us as to your world experience that gives you this insight..in light of your stated references and mentors, I would say most professors on most campuses have less external world experience than many of those posting on BGP. What I'm saying is that many of us want to know more about you and how you derive your opinions. I'm hopeful you have had multiple cultural experiences outside the US with a variety of environments and political interactions.

There are people on both ends of the extremes. There are just as many Conservative extreme viewpoints. Hope you'll acknowledge them as incredulously as you have the Liberal extreme.

Hope you'll acknowledge them as incredulously as you have the Liberal extreme.Sorry to disappoint but if I thought that conservative political opinions were as ridiculously misguided and extreme as liberal political beliefs, then I would not count myself a conservative. I do agree that there are people who self-identify as conservatives who really have no understanding of what the term means, as there are people who call themselves progressives who are equally clueless. Anybody who wants to understand true conservatism should read Mark Levin's Liberty and Tyranny and Ameritopia. You might still disagree with the conservative political perspective but you would understand why we conservatives are so adamant that guys like Reince Priebus, Mitch McConnell, John Boehner, and the entire Republican leadership need to be replaced. They are as much a part of the problem as Barack Obama is.

Whether you identify them as a Conservative isn't really going to weigh much in the overall scheme of things. I don't think like the liberal extreme, but many Conservative posters on this board like to lump me into the "you liberals" category when the extremes are discussed. Gotta take it all.

Never heard more closed minded, unenlightened drivel in my life. I'll just do a two for one reply - plain and simple guys - I have the degrees. Going through school teaches you about a variety of different cultures and a variety of different experiences. Diversity is very high in the college atmosphere. Professors have at the least a master's degree, most have doctorate degrees. I mean, are you really going to discount somebody who has a doctorate? Thus, look at how a lot of professors tend to lean Democrat and have increased education and are more open-minded and tolerant than most Republicans. That is where my views really evolved, college.

No, just because somebody falsely claims to be a conservative on the campaign trail does not mean that we should accept them into the conservative tent. Elected officials like John McCain, Lindsey Graham, and many other Republicans are erroneously (if not intentionally) identified as conservatives by the media all of the time but they disparage true conservatives like Ted Cruz at every opportunity. I will admit that my opinion is just that - an opinion, but it is one shared by millions of conservatives in this country. I see the far right as being libertarians and that is where I see myself as belonging. There is nothing extreme about advocating limited government, strict adherence to our Constitutional principles, and protection of both economic and personal liberty. Using the threat of force to redistribute wealth from those who earned it to those who refuse to provide for themselves and their families is extreme. That is exactly where Obama stands and unfortunately, so do many Republican leaders.
