horst muhlmann
With Regional titles by Simon Kenton (8th), Conner (9th) and Scott (10th), this seems to be one of the best years for Northern Kentucky baseball in recent memory. Outstanding showing by the local schools. Hoping that one of them brings home the trophy. Thoughts?

Those three teams probably beat SK and Scott 7 or 8 times out of 10. And Highlands was really good too. The proximity to top level summer ball programs in Cincinnati is a factor in the depth of talent here in NKY.

colonel-fan
Amazing how close we were to having 3 Kenton County schools in the Sweet 16.

Cooper also beat many teams that made it to regionals to such as Highlands, Dixie, Scott, Boone Co. HC etc. and run ruled 2 of them in Simon Kenton and St Henry. NKY had a lot of great teams this year.

Really all the Boone county teams were solid (although Cooper did not beat Scott...they lost 8-7 on 5/16;)). The 9th region is just a brutal region to win. And the 10th region being down a little did help Scott, as realistically, I think last years team was better than this years. But still, overall, when you throw in Ludlow and Bellevue having decent years, nearly every program in NKY was pretty good this year.
oldjarhead
I have a question. How are Scott and Simon Kenton in the same school district. But in different regions for sports??

rjs4470
As good as NKY is, Lexington is where the best baseball is played. And I don't think anyone disagrees with that. It's just being pointed out that this year, NKY has a bunch of talent and was very competitive.
rjs4470
Hopefully the NKY teams will not play each other too soon. Good luck to all three! SK and Scott could play in the semi's. Conner is in the bottom half of the bracket and can't see SK or Scott until the finals.
KY Thorobred
As good as NKY is, Lexington is where the best baseball is played. Lex and Louisville are 1/2 but NKY is right there with Owesboro and Bowling Green with quality baseball.
NEERFAN
Great post, and agree 100%. Proof what a great game this is, "any day, any time". Case in point, Anderson County defeated SK 11-1 in mid April then SK beats them in the regional final. It happensin all sports but baseball is a crazy game.
