Without Powell, Cam becomes more of a running QB than he is with Powell in the game for sure. Neither Heflin or Hampton are the runner that Cam is.

 

If That was the case why was Heflin inserted last year when Dillon went down. Cameron Is going to be a good QB but has never and will never play a single down at RB.

I doubt that he would play any snaps at RB. I noted that he's a good runner and would need to run more if Powell were to be injured. As to your question, my guess is that Heflin got those snaps so that Cam wouldn't get injured and slow his natural progression as a QB. If you were picking the better runner, Cam is the better of the two IMO.

Heflin is a good runner. He had 4 touchdowns playing runninh back last year. He has a strong arm also.

The key will be the defense shutting teams down and causing turnovers.

I was referring to your post saying the only way Racke is not at QB is if Dillon was injured and they moved him to RB. As for who the better runner is, comparing running as a JV QB with the option of handoff, pitch or pass to lining up 7 yards off the Ball and taking the handoff in a varsity game is like comparing pigs and butterflies. I think you are drastically underestimating Heflin's skills

Oh and BTW with the season they were having and their chances in the playoffs I feel quite certain that not injuring Cameron had zero factor in the decision to play Heflin at RB.

Each time a high level talent has left, the program dipped slightly (Simpson, Lawrence, etc as examples). IMO, a big season this year proves the path that SK is on is working and we're on the road to being one of the top 6A programs in the state year in/year out.

We will agree to disagree. As far as this year's team they have a lot of key pieces coming back and have the ability to be as good as last year but it will hinge on QB and DB play. On defense there D-line will be good with 1 returning starter and two others who saw significant time. There LB core returns 3 of 4 including one which is garnering D-1 college attention. The issue defensively is replacing all 4 starters. They have some very good young talent but it is unproven. It would not surprise me to see a sophomore or 2 playing back there.

 

Offensively they have arguably the best tackle tandem in the state, a junior running back that is outstanding and a stud wideout. QB is unproven and they have to fill the other receiver voids. If Racke does win the QB position, which looks like he will, that will allow them to move Heflin to wideout barring another injury to Dillon Powell. That would give them 2 experienced wideouts and 3 to 4 other quality receivers to battle it out for the remaining 2 positions.

No, but Olmstead is pretty high on their board. They have made no offers on OL. I expect Vercheak to be offered by EKU at their camp next week.
