May 18, 201412 yr Another one. The thing about Homers bad outing is it overshadows the fact the Reds only scored 1 run. Again! That lineup they ran out there certainly showed why. Injuries do funny things to a manager
May 18, 201412 yr That lineup they ran out there certainly showed why. Injuries do funny things to a manager Even with Votto and Bruce in the line up, this team was a below .500 team, Most if not ALL these players on this team have ALL been overrated by this organization, and reality is playing itself out. When healthy this team is a .500 team, bottom line, again it's called reality.
May 18, 201412 yr Author That lineup they ran out there certainly showed why. Injuries do funny things to a manager Yep. didn't like .205 in the two hole and the Catcher on the bench. The injuries are certainly masking the flaws in the team.
May 18, 201412 yr Good thing we didn't give up on Hamilton thru 10 games. Considering the injuries I don't think anyone could have expected much more than .500 at this point.
May 18, 201412 yr Author Good thing we didn't give up on Hamilton thru 10 games. Considering the injuries I don't think anyone could have expected much more than .500 at this point. So you're in the "we're better than .500 if healthy" camp?
May 18, 201412 yr Author With Latos, Bruce, and Votto? 100% yes. Hence the pass this team will get this season.
May 18, 201412 yr I contend the Reds are only under .500 because Homer has been very underwhelming in his starts at the beggining of this year. If he has 2 better starts this team is at .500. Luckily things are trending upward with him so this team really is playing .500 ball The trend took a downturn...
May 18, 201412 yr Hence the pass this team will get this season. Not at all. Contract situations are only gonna make it harder. Not much you can do about injuries. Staring catcher on the DL twice., starting RF, your #2 starter, and now who knows with Votto. Pretty significant injuries to overcome. As well as your All-Star closer. Just because I think they are an above .500 team with them doesn't mean I'm giving anyone a pass. Bailey and Votto have been terrible considering what we expected/need from them.

I'm well aware of the injuries. I just don't think they're that great healthy. Because of the injuries that can't be substantiated. Hence a pass.
May 19, 201412 yr I'm well aware of the injuries. I just don't think they're that great healthy. Because of the injuries that can't be substantiated. Hence a pass. They may not be all that great as you say, but show me a team missing their two best hitters, their suspected opening day starter, their catcher that led them to trade their previous starter, and their closer plus a lefty specialist out of the pen and I will show you a team that has lost some games it could/should have won.
May 19, 201412 yr Well, I'll start to be Mr. Positive. 1. I think Hamilton is gonna be serviceable, if not better than average in the leadoff role and manning CF. 2. We graduate Ludwick. 3. Votto can hit in the 2 hole. Overpaid as he might be. 4. Leake has been outstanding and should be a stalwart. 5. JC is still a stud, and by some fluke, maybe they can come up with the cash to extend. 6. That Mesoraco kid is pretty good, and I haven't heard a soul chirp about how well Hanigan handled the staff. 7. Going forward the core of the staff is in flux. Homer is awful, but they're married to him. 8. BP should find another locale to tweet from. With the exception of #7, all are relatively positive.
May 19, 201412 yr Going forward, I have to wonder how they handle Alfredo. Agreed, sounds like Latos will be back in a week or two baring a setback.
May 19, 201412 yr IMO, baseball would be better served if the salary structure was the same as the NFL.
