Homosexual Teammate / Locker Room Etiquette

Featured Replies

It would bother me more if he was a crappy teammate and couldn't play.

I tend to agree, but if I see a naked female walking around it's going to catch my attention, whether or not she's attractive. Now, whether or not I act on it is a different story. But I'm going to look. 100% guaranteed.

And I'm going to turn around and give it a quick glance when she walks past. Again, 100% guaranteed.

And if he does this...This is where the problem would arise IMO...if he's caught "Checking out" a naked teammate.

No. Not in the least. We have to keep in mind that all of us have probably had gay teammates and either they didn't know it yet (or hadn't accepted it yet), or they were just closeted.

I wouldn't act any differently, and no, I wouldn't be uncomfortable in the least.

I agree. I will say that gay people have been on every single team, every sport, every level, including HS. The only difference is if they are out or not.

No problem at all. He likely wouldn't be interested in what I got going on anyway….I'm surprised Mrs. Birdbrain is ...

This brings up a hilarious true story. A few years ago I was out with a few friends, and one was openly gay. Somehow we got on a topic, and one of the straight friends kind of joking told the gay friend something like "I would never be with another guy", and the gay friend said "Don't worry, I am sure they are not interested in you, I am not interested in you either and you are not my type". For the next two minutes it was quiet and we talked about other stuff. Then out of no where the straight friend who made that comment said something like "Wait a minute! What? Why are you not interested in me? I am attractive, you should be interested". The gay friend said something like "I as a gay man am not interested in you at all, you are not my type". The straight friend then said "Why not? You should be wanting me and hitting all over me as I am one of the most attractive guys here".

It was hilarious, this straight guy was upset and disturbed that a gay person didn't think he was their type and wasn't interested. It kept going on and off the entire night. And to this day, when I see the straight friend, I ask him if he has talked to this gay friend of ours, every time he brings up how he doesn't understand why the guy doesn't think he is attractive and wouldn't be with him. LOL!

It would not bother me at all.

I worked with a gay guy at a place when I was younger.

He was cool.

One day he tried to tell me what he and his boyfriend did in the bedroom the night before.

I told him this.

There are rules apply to you and I from here on out.

1-If you ever touch me

2-If you ever attempt to tell me what you and your boy friend did

Because I am a nice guy I will allow you to call the hospital you want me to put you in.

He apologized and all was cool.

I said to him would you like to hear what me and girl friend did in the bedroom last night.

He laughed and said no. I now understand where you are coming from.

I've had plenty of football straight guy teammates that couldn't play a lick. You better be able to play- everything else will fall into place in the lockeroom from my experience. That would be my stance. If you ball out, we are gonna be cool. If you are a scrub, we are gonna have issues. JMO.

Next step. Going on a business trip. Have to share a room. Would you want to share it with a gay co worker?

My old boss always said. If we ever have to share rooms, I'll just tell them I am gay-- should he room with a gal?
