It's all about tolerance and open-mindedness, a quality that stereotypical Republicans refuse to have. Just because somebody lives a lifestyle you don't agree with doesn't mean you deny them their rights as the homophobes want to do. Obama has tried to work with Republicans, even had dinner with them a few times. Heck, I bet Obama would have posted Reagan-like election numbers if the south didn't like him because of his race.

 

And I'll add, I think Beshear is putting your party through the ringer. He's defending the ban but is a long time supporter of gay rights. Second, he hired a firm from EKY out of all places to defend the ban. Thus, he could have gone with a bigger, more well-known law firm. Plus, the argument...he's not going to win with that.

Who pray tell is "my party?" You seem intent on labels, which given your professed philosophy on openness and tolerance strikes me as moderately contradictory. The moment you are questioned on it you lash out.

 

Do you truly believe that the majority of people who didn't vote for Obama did so because of his race? I don't doubt for a moment that there are a number of people out there who didn't, but I would also daresay there was an equally large number who voted for him simply because of it as well.

You're more disappointed in Beshear than Fletcher? Wow. During that four year period, you didn't have too many nice things to say about Ernie LOL.

 

I had zero faith that Ernie Fletcher would be an effective governor. I saw him for what he was: A McConnell puppet.

 

Beshear had an opportunity to do some great things at a critical time in Kentucky's history and he either wasn't strong enough or didn't have the political will — I'm thinking a little of both, but more on the political will side of the scale — to drag this sorry state kicking and screaming into the future. For whatever reason, I had high hopes for him, but he ended up being like all the others.

 

I'll add: The only real leadership Beshear showed is on petty issues pandering to the religious right that only serve to make Kentucky look more dumb and rednecked than it already is. That's been more disappointing than anything.

The North American Man boy Love Association (NAMbLA, yes they purposely put the "b" in lower case) feel that age of consent laws violate their and young children's rights to have loving relationships together the fact that people don't agree with that lifestyle means they are intolerant and bigoted. Do you agree, that not agreeing with their lifestyle and advocating for it to remain illegal is intolerant and bigoted? If so, I will PROUDLY where the brand off being a bigot because sure don't want to legalize what they want. Do you? Are you a bigot just like you say all of us are? Or...........is it OK to be against a lifestyle YOU personally don't agree with?

I am refuting Elmer's claim that if someone is opposed to a groups lifestyle well then by gosh they must be hate filled, intolerant bigots. To make my point, I decided to go with a group that I assume (or atleast I HOPE) Elmer is also opposed to the lifestyle they want legalized and then question him if he wants to keep that lifestyle outlawed, is he a bigot too?

NAMbLA members would say you are intolerant towards minors and the men that (want to) love them. Not saying I agree with them but........with the way terms like hate, bigot, intolerance, etc. are thrown around anymore, I guess they want in the game too.

 

Also, I in now way shape or form suggested the gay lifestyle leads top pedophilia. Those words were put in my mouth. As I mentioned in my prior post, I needed a lifestyle example that I felt Elmer would agree with me on that should remain illegal and if he felt that lifestyle should remain illegal, is he a bigot also? And the defense that they are minors, that's different can easily be refuted saying the such exclusion is discriminatory in and of itself.

 

Now, are my trying to defend the pedophilia lifestyle and think men (and to a lesser degree women I assume based on the number of female teachers being caught with minors) should be able to have relations with minors, heck no. This is an example where I feel discrimination and intolerance ARE perfectly justified I hope everyone agrees with me.

 

My point in this is terms like hate, intolerance, bigot, etc. are being thrown around so easily anymore that they almost are losing their true meaning. I also don't agree that just because Beshear and many others who are against gay discrimination in employment, housing, etc. but feel that marriage belongs between a man and woman makes them bigots. Again, the phrase bigot is now being used in just about any case where person A can find someone has a view point different than theirs and so they try to pin them as a bigot.
