What would suspending an owner look like ? Banned from team facilities ?

It would have to result in him not being able to receive profits from the team or its not really a punishment. Sterling cares about $ not wins .

Someone just said on Twitter that the NBA constitution provides for someone making comments that bring disrepute to the league to be fined up to a million dollars and be suspended indefinitely...

If the Clippers and Warriors had a pair, they'd jointly refuse to play again until Sterling is removed.

 

They won't, and he won't be, and it'll be business as usual for the NBA after a hollow apology and a 7 figure fine/donation from Sterling to some charity.

I honestly believe Silver does something bold . This is his chance to get out of Sterns shadow early. Now behind the scene Silver is probably on the phone asking Stern what to do. Is there any doubt Stern would drop kick Sterling out of his own building ?

This fine has to be maxed out . Cuban has been fined multiple times for things a lot less offensive.

I will say also I bet the leagues lawyers have been on this since last night. With someone like Sterling while a bigot , he obviously didn't get to where he is without being a decent businessman. I'm sure Sterling has a team of lawyers waiting to block any decision the NBA decides. So while a quick decision would make us all feel better , in the end we want it done properly and to make sure they cross all the t's and dot the i's. Its better to be correct than quick.
