No, the hitter running out to the mount and flipping the bat would be the same as your examples.

Then showed no testicles and got trucked when the rubber met the road. For the record, I'd try to hit him right in the "M" on the back of his jersey next AB. And this is why the MLB is the way it is. Because if I was the Brewers and you planted one right on the M of his jersey, I'd put one square between the numbers of that pitcher the next time he was up. If it was a relief pitcher, I'd plant on square between McCutcheon's numbers.

I think the problem here is you and I have a different definition of how much of an offense the 'bat flip' was.... To me, it wasn't a big deal. If they didn't show the replay 20 times I wouldn't have even notices.

If Gomez had just stood on the base and yelled back at Cole, then I am ok with that. But when he came off the base to go after Cole it goes to a whole other level. So flipping the bat end over end is the equivalent of an F bomb laced insult? I just really don't get it with the bat flip... It wasn't like he tossed the thing 20 feet in the air. He flipped it end over end. Like. once. What if he wouldn't have flipped it but turned and tossed so far it landed at the foot of the stairs in the dugout. Would that have been better?
