I dont have a dog in the fight, but I hope this rumor isnt true. It is so unfair for MSers to play at one school and then switch to another. Unfair to the coaches, unfair to the kids that they took the place of, unfair to the kids at SK that will get bumped.

Bad deal if it is true. It will set back Scott's program further than it advances SK's program. Those two have been main cogs in Scott's program and pushed ahead of others (and perhaps deservedly so), some of which left the program, with others losing playing time and development opportunities. You gotta think long and hard about building your program around middle schoolers, and make sure they are bought into your program before putting all your eggs in that basket and make sure they are not just using you as a stepping stone. I'll never fault a parent for doing what they think is best for their kid. But this situation just doesn't smell right.

I heard a rumor today that Neace and Stapleton from Scott are going to Simon Kenton is there any truth to that? If so that would load them up with talent....

Wouldn't surprise me at all. I know some are not a fan of the girls basketball coach at Scott.

To date I know that Neace is leaving for SK. Based I what I know about this there are many people who would agree.

That said, I would not sell the Lady Eagles short just yet. Having spoke to several parents, while they achnowledge this is an unfortunate wrinkle, they tell me that plans are already in place to replace the lost offensive statistics. Fortunately, the core of the defense is intact.

Like most teams several players will be participating in AAU Basketball and this may be the best indicator of what to expect.

Scott will return 4 girls from the NKY Legends team that brought home the USBA National Title last year as well as players from the Legacy group.

I'm not sure how they replace the offense. Those two had the ball in their hands most of the time, and with the graduation of Buntin, the first three offensive options from last year will be gone. And unless those three played zero defense, they'll be taking a pretty big hit there too. Say what you want, this team was being built around those two, and Neace was going to be the face of the program for the next 4 years. Not selling the rest of the team short, but that's a tough pill to swallow. There isn't much coming up from Woodland, and I've heard rumors about other two other girls possibly leaving the program too. I hope they are able to overcome this and remain competitive.

This is always the risk when you bring middle school kids up to play at the varsity level. Last year, the shoe was on the other foot when Kennedy Baugh, who played for SK as a middle schooler decided that it was in her best interests to enroll at NDA.

I don't think this was a surprise that she was going to ND once she hit her Freshman year, her mom is a ND grad. I was told that the coaches at SK knew she would be going to ND when she was in 6th grade.

This brings up an interesting question: If you knew that she was leaving in the 6th grade should the coaches continue to build around her or should they have played the players that are committed to their school? Just asking????

Indeed it does, glad I'm not in that position.

Not true. Coaches were told after she completed her 8th grade season. No way a kid who announces that she is not committed to a program gets varsity time.

In games this past season it appeared both Dant and Meier were being groomed to replace Buntin and Clephane (another 8th grader) showed exceptional speed, instincts and long wing span. Additionally, last years Eagles Defensive player of the year, Kallmeyer, also led the team in blocked shots, steals and deflections this year and was the teams second leading scorer.

Do you really believe Coach Stowers was clueless that there was a possibility Kennedy would go to NDA as a freshman?

She got into 15 out of 33 games as an 8th grader. There were 14 other players that got more playing time than she did. What's your issue?

Who said there is an issue? Of coarse the coaching staff knew that the mother was an NDA graduate and likely suspected she would move . As far as I know, there was no formal communication of the decision until after the completion of the 8th grade season.

Now, I personally do not have an issue with middle schoolers getting playing time. But middle schoolers who profess a commitment to another program is a different animal. IMO, commitment to a program should factor into playing time decisions.
