If we're talking a limited amount of time — say, a couple songs or so daily — I think I could properly tune that out. Remember, I worked five years in retail hell. If I didn't snap from all the Britney Spears, N'Sync and Backstreet Boys boring through my head (and that's not to mention 8-10 hours daily of Christmas music assaulting my brain during that season), I think I could fight through it.

 

I wouldn't be very easy to get along with, however.

I have two old ABBA concert tickets from the 70's that I'll part with for 40 dollars. Will save you $399,960 and you'll be humming "Dancing Queen" for months.

That said anyone getting married better have a grasp on it. NOTHING, and I mean NOTHING, comes before your commitment to your spouse. And that includes a billion dollars.

I don't disagree with you, although, sadly, that isn't the case much in our society. It was a stupid hypothetical and UKMF didn't deserve Captain Consonant's remark.

With respect to my previous posts in this thread, I used the phrase "God's will" as a hyperbole, because it was so foreign to me that a person could even fathom, married or not , parent or not, considering "selling off" his spouse or children. I don't know the person who posted the comment to which I responded and I wish him/her no ill will by any means. As I said in my follow-up post, that person is free to live however she/he wants . I did not and do not intend to level an ad hominen against that person. I just heartily disagree with the point pf view that person expressed.

I can not speak for UKMustang fan, but here's what I was thinking of when I stated that I felt everyone had their "price". And I use the quotation marks here, because I'm not necessarily speaking about money all of the time. But, I believe situations can sometimes alter one's perspective of what you say you would or wouldn't do.

 

For instance, I would imagine everyone on here would say they would never kill anyone for money. Yet, have a doped-up lunatic break into your house one night with an axe and be headed for your baby girl's room...and I would dare say a good many of us would be willing to kill him if it meant saving your kid's life. In this particular instance, THAT (your child's safety) is what it took for you to change your mind.

 

Likewise, nobody is going to give up their wife/husband and children for cash. However, if you're in a car accident on the way to work tomorrow, and become an uncommunicative, bed-ridden quadriplegic that requires around the clock, 24-hour care for the next 40 years that will likely bankrupt your family, and potentially scar your children emotionally/mentally...there's a chance some people may change their mind and say their spouse and children may be better off not having to deal with that on a daily basis, and would be willing to "give them up". In this instance, giving your family a chance to return to "normal" life, would be the price you'd be willing to pay to walk away, so to speak.
