It will show they went further in their side of the bracket than other NKY teams did in theirs. The debate will reign on though who the best team was. My closing argument is there were several best teams. Some played each other. Some did not. One person, mainly a stud pitcher, can make his team the best team for the moment. If the HS baseball gods say the team that goes the furthest in the state tournament is crowned "Best in NKY" then that award goes to SK and deservedly so.

Chief, Bwood beat Hazard 11-1, against their best pitcher. SK beat Hazard 1-0, against their second best pitcher. The All "A" is nothing?

So what? Cooper run ruled SK and beat every team that has been talked about as the best NKY team they played except Conner. BW refused to play Cooper. Does that mean Cooper was the best team? Nope. BW just like Cooper lost and didn't even make it down state while SK did and that is what matters, not the All A. What did the All A get BW chief? It was a toruney that didn't even have the best teams in the state playing in it. Cooper went 3-0 in the Doc Morris toruney and faced the POY in one of those games, does that mean anything? Nope.

Maybe, just maybe BW put TOO much emphasis on the All A and not enough in the rest of their schedule which could have prepared them better for regionals etc. not saying they DI or not, just wondering why so much was put on the All A when it doesn't mean anything in the big scheme of things. Unless they knew they couldn't win against the NKY teams they needed to be able to beat so they went after the next best thing to make their season a success.

I was thinking the same thing but I was also giving credence to the fact that BW went undefeated in the Conner (or O'Conner....can't remember) Classic by defeating Bellevue, Cov Cath and Dixie all on the same day. And this was without Combs who is arguably one of the best players in the region. Then they came within a hair of defeating Cov Cath again in the districts, again without Combs. I think losing to Cov Cath in districts by blowing a decent lead affected their psyche more than putting too much emphasis on the All "A" and never recovered for the regional. With that being said, there was some evident cockiness pre-game on the BW side (not mentioning names) against HHS that told me that they were going to struggle as a team and I was right.

Did the POY pitch in the Doc Morris?

Did the POY pitch in the Doc Morris?

Yes he did. Game ended in 10 innings, he was not the pitcher of record.

Ganns pitched twice against Cooper and won both.

Boone has not been at the forefront of the best team in NKY argument. Should they be when Ganns pitches?

Good question, one that I'm not sure about. Boone offense struggled at times throughout the year. They definitely could beat anyone with him on the mound.

SK is the runner up and Bwood has another State Championship, deal with it. Sk is 3 times bigger than Bwood, but SK struggles against them in almost every sport. Bwood should never be mentioned as a top team in any sport, but every year I see them on the list. A single "A" school in NKY should do what Bellevue does every year, win a few games, scare a few big schools and then finish below .500. Bwood has State titles, they beat bigger schools all the time and they have a runner up in the "official" State baseball championship, just like SK.

A lot of young talent returning next year. You do you like?

Not familiar with the young guns other than BW and HHS.

I am a BW former player and grad so you do not have to give me a history lesson on Beechwood. Secondly please enlighten me on the State Championship Beechwood won this year. You talk about how great BW is this year YET THEY LOST!!!! They have been touted on here the last 2 years about how great they are and how great of players they have etc. yet they LOST, what don't you understand?

Beechwood got run ruled against Conner, got embarrassed by Highlands yet you still continue on your rant. Beechwood did not have a state runner up this year, they didn't even make it to state!!!!!! We are talking about this year. If you want to talk about past years then every school can claim dominance over BW at one time or another. Last year Cooper beat Beechwood, this year Beechwood chickened out of their game against Cooper so explain that one about a team that is so great in your eyes. The All A tourney is not a state championship, far from it but I guess when you can't beat the teams in your area you have to hang your hat on something so I suppose that is why you are so proud of beating the limited schools allowed to p,at in that tournament...yes only the small schools lol, congrats on that

SK was state runner up, Beechwood got crushed in their only game in regionals, deal with it.

Ganns pitched twice against Cooper and won both.

He pitched 3 times, first was in the Doc Morris tourney and he had a no decision as Cooper won in extra innings when Ganns was taken off the mound for relievers.

Hellbird, I usually appreciate your candor and insight and I hope you do not take this the wrong way. Did you have a bad experience at BW or were wronged by someone there? It is one thing to have a difference of opinion but you seem bitter towards other opinions of your alma mater. BW did beat a lot of other strong teams in NKY and they lost to the same ones as well. BW folks should be flattered that a dinky school gets mentioned in the same breath as the big boys in the area. If BW was chicken to play anyone then why did they play in the Louisville Invitational? You have actually heard Coach Mullins say that they did not play Cooper because he was chicken? Hardly. BW had a fine year for a very young team. Losing Combs did not help the depth chart at all but for a small school they hung in there. They should be proud of the All "A" win. It is set up in a state tourney format and they beat some good teams. I do not remember NCC getting slighted last year for winning it.

I think BW losing Combs turned to be as devastating as Boone losing Ganns or Conner losing Ross. Their #2 pitcher and his batting set the table giving pitches to hit to everyone around him. He was more important than we gave him credit for and my top pick for POY 2015. IMO he was at least if not more valuable to BW as Forbes was to Ryle and that isn't counting his contribution on the bump.
