Officials gift regional semi-final to Henderson county

Featured Replies

The robbing is complete. Worst officiated game I've ever watched. Game gifted to Henderson. Pivotal call was initially called a block (obvious block) on a made basket was switched to a "blarge" double foul and the basket was taken away and ball given to Henderson. Instead of a 6 or 7 point lead for UHA it was only 4 and the ball went to Henderson on the possession arrow. Then UHA scores with 5 seconds left but a phantom foul away from the ball is called as the ball went in the bucket. Bucket taken away. Then in first overtime UHA had ball with game tied and a chance to win. With no apperantly pressure on the ball, only token guy standing there a 5 second call is made.

Terrible officiating. Highway robbery

Was a great game. UHA played well. I felt they deserved that win. I really didn't have a problem with the last two calls, they seemed more legit than the double foul. That was strange and I don't understand why that was called like that. Especially after initially calling the block. If they were gonna change it, it should have been a charge not a double foul. That being said, that could have very easily been called a charge initially, but that isn't the point. UHA should be playing in the region finals.

The "blarge" was obviously a block. You are correct though. UHA was robbed.

And it's brought up that the call before the blarge was an overturn against UHA. So in the last minute 3 calls, 2 of which were reversed to blatantly favor Henderson gift the game to Henderson.

The basket I am positive should have counted even if it is a blarge.

It wasn't. As clueless a crew as I've ever seen

You are correct. Basket counts. Defensive team gets the ball OOB.

I wasn't there but my guess is there wasn't a "change" of the call. By rule you cannot change it. It's a double foul.

It was clearly called a block with an and 1 signaled. Refs then huddled, came to announcer and switched to a double foul and bucket was taken off of board. The ref even used the term "blarge". If the bucket is counted UHA almost certainly wins as that would have put them up 6 with a minute to go. Another blown call. Shocking

Ball was awarded to Henderson on the possession arrow

I believe if the shot got in on a blare the rule is that you waive off the basket, call a double foul, and the shooter shoots two free throws. I know it sounds weird, but about seven years ago a referee at the Gallatin Steel Tournament explained it to me in the hospitality room.

No, they initially called it a block, basket good. Then they met together, called the coaches over, then changed the call to a double foul and no basket. I have never seen this made...ever.
