Bolden was dribbling on the offensive side of midcourt when he lost the handle and was the first one to touch it on the other side of midcourt. From my view I did not see the defender touch the ball. None of the refs signaled tip either.

 

There was also a non-call on goaltending against Holmes. Daria had a fastbreak and put the ball on the glass when it was then knocked away by a Holmes defender. Not sure how that wasn't called.

1) Yes and yes.

2) I believe it was on the downward motion. I know Walter said the people around him thought it was a good block but everyone around me thought it should have been goaltending.

I said the same thing to someone walking out of the arena. It was very fitting.

It looked to me that the kid from Dixie got a piece of the ball first.

The Dixie defender aggressively made a move on the ball, which caused Bolden to then pursue the ball harder. Dixie player dove for the ball, and IMO, touched it, negating the over and back.

The ball never was higher than the rim. My seat was at rim height in the Dixie section, at the baseline extended..perfect vantage point. No goaltending.

It's not an over and back call until a Holmes player touches the ball. It's a live ball until then.

I read Clyde's post from the update thread that he left at halftime. So did I. So did about 1,000 people. Did not see a comeback coming. That will teach me to pull up stakes early.

 

I was getting ready to do the same thing, but the bud light finally was delivered. I was shocked by the amount, or lack thereof, of Dixie and Holmes fans. The atmosphere for game 1 was outstanding. Not so much for game 2. Most fans left were casual fans with no dog in the hunt. Very quiet even when Dixe came charging back. They had about 3 dozen kids chatting in one end zone and that was it. Congrats to Holmes on the win. Great game. Fun to see Hatton step up late in the game. It was over and back, that call was blown. Too close to call on the goal tending.

Should be a great game tomorrow. I'll have to miss it, heading down the AA for a double header.

I thought there were a few suspect calls in both games.

 

On the over and back: I thought a Dixie player knocked it out originally, then Bolden tipped the ball in the front court and then was on the floor to recover in the backcourt. Not sure if that is still over and back....

 

I thought there were quite a few "over the back" penalties, but few were called. Of course, if Dixie rebounders get better box-out position, the officials would have had to call it. Nonetheless, it seemed like a few Holmes players were climbing up the backs.

 

One other suspect call, but probably correct... Hedger catches the ball on the block and makes a power move to the rim and the Holmes player hits the deck and it's a charge. That's fine. But, then 3 plays later that same Holmes kid drives, Hedger steps up and hits the deck and it's a blocking violation. What I got from it was... the big guy can knock down the little guy, but the little guy cant knock down the big guy.

 

Nonetheless, I hate to say it... If Dixie doesn't go down 15 at half, this game is a different story.

 

Both teams fought hard, gave it all they had, and unfortunately somebody has to come up a loser. Congrats to Brandon Hatton on an excellent career and a shout out to Adam Daria too! That young man helped to keep Dixie in this game with some big shots, and has done that all year.

 

Excited to watch some of the Younger Dixie players take over next season!
