Just for the record if no one has figured it out yet im a huge Bracken County homer. I admit it :( And i get worked up about stuff too. Its ok to be a homer. Thats why you may be a little worked up and just dont realize it. It happens.

 

The people on here may not particularly be Augusta fans (homers) just pulling for the underdog. Augusta is this game will be a huge underdog and that adds to the excitement of the game. I know thats why im interested in this game. Augusta is my arch rival. Always will be. But just for one night i will be cheering for them because they are the underdog! Thats what basketball is this time of year. Its all emotion for these teams, thier fans and the players.

 

Another side note the school is called Augusta Panthers not Bach high. There is more than one player on the team. And they are not all named Bach. Yeah he gets all the glory most of the time and rightfully so, but he is the first one to give credit to his teammates because with out the whole team they would not be where they are right now. :thumb:

 

And if this is just a formality then why even play the game? Just give it to MoCo and take the night off. Oh wait thats why they play the games because nothing is a given till the final horn sounds!

Augusta will give it their all. If it gets close, look for Wallace to take over for MoCo.

 

Wallace definitely took over against Brossart, as did Jones.

 

I've seen MoCo twice this year & both times they played their best ball when Jones played well. He had a strong 4th quarter when they beat Henderson County earlier in the year & he was a force against the Mustangs on Friday.

 

Augusta will have an uphill battle trying to get any scoring around the rim because of Cisero & Jones. They're both long, both are athletic, & both are skilled shot blockers.

This was a ten point game going into 4th quarter in Mt.Sterling let's remember that! Augusta ran out of gas! Can't see them running out of gas this time around !!

According to the KHSAA scoreboard, Bach has 925 points this season, and that doesn't include his 43 against Robertson Co. That puts him 32 points away from 1000 for the season. He is averaging just over 31 per game, and had 36 last time against Montgomery Co.

 

Whether or not he can get to 1000 for the season could be an interesting side story for this game.

I won't comment on the game or strategy but another interesting side note here is that Brent played AAU over this past Summer for Hoop Dreams with both Darius Jones and Bryan Wallace. I know they're First Class kids and all three have great mutual respect for one another.

You will find huge numbers of loyal Bracken County Polar Bear fans sporting orange and black if Augusta is in the position of playing a BSF in a tournament game; and vice-versa.

 

It has a lot to do with Bracken County being sandwiched between the likes of Mason County and Pendleton County. Not large counties by any stretch of the imagination, but often perceived - true or not (and especially by those from Bracken County) - as little brother.

 

That's why they band together when playing a Mason County; and delight when they have success. That's why they will band together and root like heck for Augusta against Montgomery County. And they will come out in droves tomorrow night wearing orange and black. Heck - EVEN I wore orange and black on Friday and I'll wear it again on Monday (and I wore blue on Thursday), because Augusta is the 39th District rep that's still standing.

 

Finally. Is Augusta or Bracken County a perennial "player" in the 10th? No. But when they are, it galvanizes the community like you wouldn't believe. When one beats a Mason County or a Montgomery County - especially when the season is on the line - it's a big, big, HUGE deal. The Bach-led wins over Mason County in the district tournament games this year (especially) and last will be local folklore for generations.
