2014 Fish Fry Thread

Featured Replies

It's fish fry time again! We have a few threads on this from previous years. But we have lots of new posters too. Fresh fish and fresh thread!

Where are you heading tonight?

Which ones do you really like and why?

I'm hungry already !

Shout out to Immaculate Heart of Mary's fish fry, in Burlington, featured on Fox News this morning!

We belong to St. Tim's, so we eat at either St. Tim's or St. Paul's on most occasions. I like them both. We usually hit Mary Queen of Heaven 1x a year, although I get a little sick of being beaten over the head with "the best fish fry on Earth" nonsense. :D

Have never been to IHM's, nor St. Pius', but have heard good things about both.

BGP Fish Fry nights sound like a good idea. St Joes in Walton is the one I normally hit up on the way home. Always good.

Looks like St. Bernadette waaaaaaay out in the Louisville East End for me tonight.

I loves me some fish fry time.

Silver Grove firehouse has a nice fry with shrimp, fish, and frog legs. Been happy to eat there a few times. I am going to try the Elk's in Highland Heights this year as I hear good things. They even have a ribeye sandwich for you non-believers.

Holy Cross will have it's Fish Fry tonight.

What time frame and at the HS?

Frog legs? That's a unique menu choice. Are frog legs considered a non-meat item?

Ribeye sandwich at a fish fry? I'm speechless. :lol2:

St Mary's in Alexandria has them the first 3 weeks of lent. Great options, cod, hand battered catfish, baked tilapia with all the fixins. New this year, a loaded jumbo potato.

Normally I'm in the sweat shop dropping the poor little guys into the deep fryers, but...tonight there are bigger fish to fry. Go Mustangs!!!!!

Well hey, if somebody has a non-Catholic in tow...like maybe me...like, you know...somebody might invite ME to come eat...and hey, who knows...somebody might invite someone like ME to come eat. And hey, if someone should...oh I don't know, invite someone like ME to come eat who is not Catholic...well then a ribeye sandwich might be just the thing that someone like ME would order should I be invited to come eat.:thumb:

I know one of the guys that does the fish fry there very well. He's a Camels fan though.

More I think about it, we probably know one another. :lol2:

I am not catholic but love the fish fry's. My understanding though is frog legs are acceptable to eat during lent. What is considered prohibitive is flesh from mammals and birds. You could actually eat snake and aligator also.

Non-believing Heathen! :lol2:
