This was a great game to watch! About four months ago we had a thread that said "Who Would You Rather Have Vanhoose or McDavid," Well my opinion hasn't changed I still WANT THEM BOTH!! They both had unbelievable games and showed that they are true winners! I thought it was a nice touch to see these young men hug and embrace each other in true sportsmanship and friendship! This is what high school sports is all about! Anyway they both had big games for their teams! Excellent job by both sides playing good hard clean basketball and giving all the fans an exciting game! :thumb: :

After the game on the Dirk and Dicky Show, Flynn stated that Sizemore had not hit a 3 all year long until tonight. Wrong, he's hit many. Just wanted to clear that up, that's all.

Better check the stats UKCATSFAN. Sizemore was 0 for 12 from trey land going into tonight's game. Check it out on the Russell basketball site. I think Coach Flynn knew his stuff.

Drew McDavid is maybe not the best player in the region, but if there was an MVP vote, he'd get mine. Him and Jon Ferguson of Elliott are my two favorite players to watch in the region.

Congratulations to the Tomcats for the hard fought road win. Riding on such a close game, won at the buzzer, is a great way to go into the tournaments.

 

It has to be tough for Russell to lose to Ashland at home on senior night. Senior night is usually an emotional night. How many seniors are on the Russell squad besides Lavender?

 

This region is wide open for the team that wants it the most. We’re finally down to the part of the season that matters most.

Russell's coaching blew it. Why do coaches take the air out of the ball with the lead so early. Devils were up 8 with 5 minutes to go. They didnt score again until the Vanhoose 3 with about 5 seconds to go. Ashland wanted it more and went and got it.

Agree! Russell up 33-25 going into the 4th qtr. When you sit on the ball that just prevents your team from scoring also. And then when you sit on it and turn it over or come away empty handed ??????? Ashland coaches played smart and would let Russell run 30 -40 sec off the clock and then foul. Russell then would have to set up again and run more time and then come away empty handed. Russell coaches just handed this one away. Many times during the game Gill would have his player posted up but Russell would pass to late or not at all. Lets recoup and get for the Rams on Tuesday. Russell has the atheltes but they need to turned lose. :fire: :fire: :fire:

Regional final type atmosphere, it wasnt stall ball, it was just in your face defense, Mcdavid hurt Russell all night and made the huge putback at the buzzer, Russell should have zoned the final play but hindsight is 20/20

good news is, this one was for entertainment, everyone is 0-0

on a side note, the cheerleading coach, who was listening to the Ashland radio crew during the game, and who also knows the assistant deputy fire chief, apogized to me for the clock keeper starting the clock late on the last inbounds play which allowed ashland to inbounds, take 3 dribbles, , take a shot, and allow Drew to make the putback in only 3.5 seconds :fire: :fire:

That 3.8 seconds did seem to stretch some. But Russell should have never let Ashland get back in this game.

What bothers most Devils is this was Senior night and there were 2 Seniors that did'nt even hit the floor. Win or Lose they should have at least started. It's there last night to play and they didn't get the chance. Every were you go and play on senior night. Seniors always start and starters take second fiddle. It's a tribute to the seniors ????????

Great game by the cats. McDavid played his usual game. Wilcox was in the face of Vanhoose all night. Nothing came easy for him. Cannoy completely shut down Blair and had big 3 point play late in the 4th. Williams hit a few shots and was big on the boards. Everyone contributed tonight. This was a big momemtum builder heading into the district tournament next week. KEEP IT GOING CATS.
