HICKORY Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Predictions? I very much look forward to seeing this play out. It might be as good as a state tournament!
Walter Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Given the seeding and district tournament brackets, I am going to go with the following: 33rd District Champ- Cooper 33rd District Runner Up- Boone Co 34th District Champ- Dixie 34th District Runner Up- St Henry 35th District Champ- Holmes 35th District Runner Up- Covcath 36th District Champ- Newcath 36th District Runner Up- Newport Region Tournament Draw: Newcath St Henry Cooper Covcath Holmes Boone Co Dixie Newport If Covcath beats Holmes in the district finals: Newcath Boone Co Dixie Holmes Covcath St Henry Cooper Newport
MentschTrachtGottLacht Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Region Tournament Draw: Newcath St Henry Cooper Covcath Holmes Boone Co Dixie Newport That is subtitled, Holmes' dream scenario.
MentschTrachtGottLacht Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 ......... My only differences from Walter's prediction is I think CovCath wins the 35th with Holmes as runner-up, and I think Highlands makes it over Newport as the 36th's runner-up (assuming they don't do a blind draw and Highlands gets the Breds in the District semi's [i forget which districts draw and which earn their seeding]). I also think Erik Goetz sees that Highlands team make the Regionals and beats his head into his desk over some of the Holy Cross rosters that never made a Regional because of being in a district with Holmes and CovCath.
ennam_iv Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 I don't think that both Boone and Cooper make it out of their District. I think that one of either Ryle or Conner pulls a mild upset to advance. Out of all the District tourneys that is the one I want to watch the most... should be very competitive.

Mr. Sixer Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 I don't think that both Boone and Cooper make it out of their District. I think that one of either Ryle or Conner pulls a mild upset to advance. Out of all the District tourneys that is the one I want to watch the most... should be very competitive. Ryle beats Boone so I agree with your assessment here. Ryle will be tough at home.
ennam_iv Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Newport will play Highlands in one side of the bracket as the 36th is now seeded. This will be another really fun game to watch. Its all gonna be over soon, so I need to get as many of these games in as possible.
MentschTrachtGottLacht Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Newport will play Highlands in one side of the bracket as the 36th is now seeded. That was what I thought...and I think Highlands gets the win. Would be a great game though!!
Clyde Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Why are we predicting the draw for the region? You might as well predict lottery numbers.
Voice of Reason Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Yawn ... 9th region tournament is about as much a forgone conclusion as any region in the state.
ennam_iv Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Yawn ... 9th region tournament is about as much a forgone conclusion as any region in the state. I'm afraid you are probably right. I hope otherwise, but if I had a chance to win a million dollars I'd bet NCC and feel pretty good about it.
Voice of Reason Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 I'm afraid you are probably right. I hope otherwise, but if I had a chance to win a million dollars I'd bet NCC and feel pretty good about it. I don't see anyone beating NCC or CCH except one of those two beating the other one. Holmes is the only other team that has a prayer of a chance of beating those two and I make Holmes a clear underdog to both CCH and NCC at this point.
frankdracman23 Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Where are all the District tourneys being played? 35th Boys is at BOKC, (not sure where the Girls get Title IX'ed to), 36th should be NCC if my history is correct.....
Walter Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 That is subtitled, Holmes' dream scenario. That could happen whether Holmes wins or loses in the district finals. Boone winning the 33rd wouldn't shock me. They are the #1 seed for a reason. I personally think Covcath wins the 35th district, given the way Holmes is playing right now, but went with an "upset scenario."
