The All A Classic is a giant invitational tournament at the regional level. You have to be invited to play in the tournament to participate.

If a school meets their guidelines they are invited to participate at the regional level. Not in the state tournament itself. Dont be so hard headed look it up for yourself. It would seem to me that the folks that run the all a can make whatever rules they see fit, it is their show. A word of caution though, when you start changing a good thing, the results are not always what you hope for.

I only follow because of baseball and what I said it is not just an INVITATIONAL. I dont care what the numbers are, the committee sets that and you either play or dont. It does not however follow current KHSAA Class A football guidelines. I never professed to be smart only smart enough to look up the FACTS before putting a FOOT in my mouth, unlike some others.

At the regional level, it is an invitational tournament ... teams are invited to participate, and they choose whether or not to compete.

 

The only difference between the All A Classic and a typical invitational tournament is the opportunity for the regional winner to face other similar schools on a state level.

Not true. The rules have not been changed ... the All A Classic uses the same enrollment guidelines that it always has. It's just that several schools that didn't qualify for the tournament 15 years ago now do so because of declining enrollment.

I suggest that we need to change the numbers to 425 students 9-12.

Okay, here are the most recent numbers from the KHSAA website dealing with enrollments for 14th region schools. This is a master listing average combined enrollment for the two year period of 2005 SY and 2006 SY.

The listing is for both 9-12 and 10-12.

Thanks for clearing it up, but still some schools that are 2A in football are able to compete in this tourny, correct? So they haven't changed the rules, they never used the KHSAA football rules as far as class goes?

They used the numbers to begin with. The problem is that more and more schools are dropping below the 425 students in grades 10-12 cutoff. The KHSAA adusts its numbers every four years to keep everything balanced in football.

 

In this case, at least in my opinion, not changing the rules is not a good thing. I think an adjustment to 450 students, or maybe 500 students, in grades 9-12 would be a more reasonable number for Class A schools. Half the schools in the state could fall below the All "A" Classic cutoff if adjustments aren't made at some point.

The only real issue is the Private School vs. Public School. I dont think the numbers are the real issue.
