Clyde, I agree with your assessment and Cooper's defense separates them from the rest. Boone is the weakest of the bunch because I think they have the weakest overall guards. Dixie has Hatton, who can go off at any given time, but will they play enough defense to make a run. Looking at scores, I think allowing Holy Cross to hang around and score a fair mount of points was a warning shot for Dixie.

Big NKY GCL battle (otherwise known a a 33rd district contest). I said before the game first one to 50 wins.

 

Despite the low scoring it was fun to watch.

 

McNeil had 16 of the first 18 for Cooper to get them to a nice lead at half.

 

Just like the last game Boone came back in the 3rd qtr to make it a game.

Boone ran one last play. Mayberry took the handoff from Stanley going to the right sideline and then down the right baseline. Found himself behind the board. SHot it anyway. Knicked the front edge of the side of the board and went right to Ordu (sp?) who laid it in with one second left. Ball game.

Flip a coin in this district. Ryle, Boone, Cooper and Conner, just like the girls district, all have beaten eachother.

I think you are right that it is a competitive even district, but just to set the record straight - Boone beat Ryle both times they played each other.

 

They usually are not the most talented team but Coach McQueary always gets the most out of his team. Boone having the season they are and being the number one seed this year is once again a testimony to how good McQueary is as a coach.

As I told Clyde last night, Stanley is one of my favorite players in years. Just a great basketball iq and pure shooter.

There's obviously the "big 3" and then everyone else. Dixie/Cooper/Boone IMO are about the same. They'll beat each other but they're the same level. All 3 have limitations. They can beat everyone other than the big 3. They can lose to each other.

 

In a tourney game the team I would fear the most is Cooper. They play the best D and can make life hard on you. However, they can also be low-scoring. History, though, says the 9th region tourney games are low-scoring which feeds right into Cooper's strength.

Correct. Should be two good games.

While there is definitely no such thing as a good loss as I am sure Cooper would have preferred to win the game, being the 2 seed may be an advantage. Boone will have a tough time with Ryle this go round. Ryle is a tough place to play and since the district is being held there I will say that Ryle will be a very very tough out. To date they are 5-4 at home I believe and while they did have an 8 point loss to Boone in the first go round their other home losses came to powers Scott County, CCH, and Dixie (the Dixie game went pretty much down to the wire). Addtionally they beat Cooper at home. Ryle has all the pieces and personally feel they are better than their record. Boone had big lead in the 2nd game gave it up and Ryle had their chances there as well. So, I will not be shocked one bit if Ryle pulls off the upset and beats the #1 seed BC.

 

This will be the 4th installment of Cooper vs. Conner and I'm sure this one could go either way as well. Next Tuesday should be real interesting.

I honestly don't remember him taking more than maybe 2 shots, i could be wrong but I don't remember him taking many shots at all.

Did Boone play a 1-3-1 zone in this game. It gave Cooper fits in the first Meeting. I was curious If it worked as well this time. Also surprised about Holland not scoring. He usually finds way to basket.
