If I was the coach and my wife told me about it I would go to my administration and ask them where they were in all of this and demand that for the safety of all the patrons that this parent be banned from coming to games. No excuse for a parent to treat the coach or his wife like that, no matter the circumstances. I find this to be way over the top. No room for it in high school athletics

Absolutely agree!!!

And any 'normal' person would expect the administration to also agree with this action being taken against the offending parent. However, more often than not, the administration would simply give the offending parent a 'slap on the wrist' and the offending parent will continue to behave the same way, maybe more covertly, probably ruining the season for anyone that has to sit in the stands next to him/her. Coach's spouse and children quit coming to games because 'it's not worth it' and Coach resigns at the end of the season....thusly the offending parent wins....

Was it so bad that everyone inluding the administration knew? If the administrator knew they should step in. If they didn't, well, you can't deal with something you don't know about
