Reds Extend Homer - 6 Years $100 Million

Should this contract come to fruition does it tell us anything about BP's immediate future with the Reds?

Maybe it's just me, but I think it spells doom for BP...:idunno:

I also subscribe to the theory that they've got some sort of plan in place to keep Latos....Maybe they've decided Latos and Homer are who they're rolling with, and Cueto is the odd man out?

They had a plan in place to sign Latos long-term when they traded for him. Just my opinion.

Or maybe they just decided to sign the first one that they could get to agree to what they consider a club friendly deal. With the money that free agent pitchers are getting right now I'd have to think that Latos would want to see what he's worth on the open market. He'd certainly want more than Bailey is getting.

Whether it turns out that what they gave up for Latos in return was a steal or not, at the time they gave up a ton for him, and wouldn't have done so if they didn't plan on him being here for 10 years.

My thoughts exactly. :thumb:

Homer: 'I feel we're close' to a multi year deal. hammering out details, he said #reds

If this happens I don't know how I'd feel. If the Reds are able to keep him and Latos then it might be worth it. But if this outs them out of signing Latos then shame on them

I'm kind of shocked Homer would take a 6 year deal. I guess it's hard to turn down $100M.

Bailey says he's really close to deal with Reds | www.daytondailynews.com

Bailey hasn't bought a plane ticket to Florida for Friday and hasn't bought a suit for the scheduled arbitration hearing. He expects to have a deal in place before then.

"Hopefully we can get the small stuff worked out in the next few days," Bailey said. "If not, I'm going to have to go buy a suit."

Like others have said, I hope this won't prevent us from keeping Latos. I believe the Reds will figure it out. Also, Bailey is getting better and we have put in so much time developing him it'd be a shame to see him shine with another team so I hope the Reds do get this deal done.

For a 100 million dollars???? No way!!! IMO to recieve 100 millions dollars you have to be at the top of your game not getting better.

Who else would pay him 100 million dollars?
