Lexington Catholic 81, Lafayette 79: Lafayette has made a habit of erasing big deficits and rallying to win big games this season.The Generals had the tables turned on them in the Sutherland finale Saturday.Lexington Catholic wiped out an 18-point deficit and wound up winning on Robert Dence's layup with :03 left."I just kept telling my guys to keep chipping away and play a little defense and we'd have a fighting chance," Coach Brandon Salsman said."I thought if we were able to get the (deficit) under 10, we could put points on the board pretty quick."Lafayette led Lexington Catholic 69-51 with three minutes left in the third quarter before the Knights stormed back.Lexington Catholic still trailed by 10 going into the fourth quarter, but it scored the next eight points to pull to within two. Lafayette's shaky free-throw shooting kept the Knights alive in the closing minutes.After Lexington Catholic went up 79-78, Dequise Robinson hit one of two foul shots to tie it with :41 left.The Knights ran down the clock before Jarod Griffin drove the lane and dished to Dence who hit a wide-open layup with :03 left to win it."A great play by Jarod," Salsman said. Griffin finished with seven assists.Tanner Johnson led Lexington Catholic with 22 points. Reese Ryan had 17 and Dence added 13 points and eight rebounds. Michael Talbott also had 13 points.Lance Blakley's 28 points, including six threes, led Lafayette. Jackson Davis had 21 points, 15 rebounds and four assists.

Awesome......terrific comeback by the Knights to beat the Generals on their home floor. They overcame alot in this game as it was definitely a home game for Lafayette. There was a black-eye moment in the game when Jackson Davis stomped on a Catholic player Jarod Griffin while he was on the floor (karma comes in all forms...lol). Actually thought Davis should have been tossed. What a wild regional this will be......

Think so. We talked earlier about these two possibly playing five times. Could happen.

Blakely was on fire for Lafayette, and I thought Davis played extremely well. I'm still not sure how Lafayette blew such a comfortable lead.

There was a stretch where Lafayette had some rough breaks from the officials, and they never seemed to get back in it.

Davis got T'd up on a dunk, and I can't even fathom how the official thought he was making a correct call. There was someone directly under him, and he didn't pull himself up or anything. I actually thought he dropped sooner than he should have based on the player under him.

On The Knights ensuing possession, Davis got called for foul on the rebound on a tough call for his third foul. The Lafayette coach then got T'd up. He wasn't over the top, so it must have been for what he said.

After a bunch a free throws, the Knights had the margin back around 10, when it looked like it was moving closer to twenty. Lafayette did not respond well, never really getting back into the flow.

Who's coming out of this Region? I would think Scott County would have to be the favorite at this point.

I am not a fan of either team but Davis DID do a chin up on the dunk. Now someone was underneath him and I don't think he should have received the T, but he did pull himself up. Although it was an impressive dunk. I did not think Davis took over the game like I felt he should have. They just allowed Lex. Cath to claw back into it. It was a great game to watch from a fan perspective.

I still think he should have been T'd up or tossed for pulling the Christian Laettner on Griffin
