Does having him enroll this fall essentially cost him a year of development? If he did a true grey shirt he would be graduating six years after high school but since he is enrolling this fall he will lose eligibility after five years, both assuming he redshirts one year. Am I understanding this correctly? I feel it would help him in the long run to truly grey shirt.

I understand that for the short term but unless they anticipate him stepping in and competing immediately it is not a wise decision. Based upon the grey shirt offer they are not looking for him to potentially start next season. This is the reason I feel it could cost him a year of being able to be on the field.

GVS would do themselves a dis-service if they deemed a school "not worth it," due to the decommit of one player. I don't see that happening. It's a great opportunity for the target QB below Kuntz on their list. They do have a list and they check it more than twice just for situations like this past week! I'm sure they're happy to have Walling and disappointed BK went a different direction, but understand and can appreciate why.

He's not going to play in the NFL. And in all honesty, he was probably a borderline D1 QB. At TMC he gets to be a bigger fish in a small pond rather than a small fish in a big one. He gets a chance to play some more football, close to home, with a lot of guys he probably knows. I wish him the bet.

He should id if he has the skill set to be a D1 QB. He can always come back to TMC a 1-2 years from now if he learns D1 isn't a fit. Enough with the fish metaphors, he earned an opportunity at the highest level. Pursue it, work it, and if not a go fall back on TMC.

 

On the flip side if WKU is a fit, he does very well, and rjs eats crow when BK gets picked up in the 2019 draft by an NFL squad. Who can ever determine where folks will be 5 years from now. I wish the best as well. Go to WKU and be away from home awhile whether that is 1 year or 5!

Wasn't meant as an insult. He (as should everyone) go where there is the best balance of everything. And TMC is a heckuva good program, one of the top 10 or 12 D3 schools in the country. And let's be real, the NFL is a pipe dream for 99% of all college football players especially QB's. And maybe his goal isn't to be a D1 QB or star, and maybe TMC is the best fit academically that will still allow him to play football. Regardless, I hope he does well. TMC put together a really nice recruiting class.
