So what you are really trying to say is the KHSAA is lacking in intestinal fortitude......so the state of basketball in Ky. is not good......all transfers come to Ky. and you shall be ruled eligible by a judge, not the basketball commission....

 

That might be what you are implying but it is 180 degrees from what I said or was trying to say. It is isn't the association that is lax, it is that our state is so basketball crazy (and I'm one of them or I wouldn't be on this board) that people sue to make it possible for players to play who the association has ruled can't. Then a judge overrules the association and it either becomes a very expensive legal merry-go-round or the association has to back off.

 

Am I satisfied with the depth of enforcement that our state's association takes to prevent obviously recruited players from playing? No. But after having observed it for 5+ decades and watching the judicial system become more & more liberal in their rulings, I have come to the point that I do understand that the KHSAA has an impossible job attempting to stop this crap. We've got out of state players everywhere and it has been going on for a long time.

 

As opinionated as I like being, I have no suggested solution for this because it is well above my pay grade. Judges are the ones who make impossible for our association to do their job and it is not an easy thing to change that factor.

 

Ultimately the only tool usually left to schools who must compete against schools who are obviously going well over the line (recruiting & using student athletes not from their school base) is to boycott them - DO NOT PLAY THEM. That will force them to have to travel to play and their school budget will have to bear the weight of that travel. Further they'll have a difficult time getting other teams to come to their gym to play them because it might be a long ways to go to play a team who uses players brought in from outside their school base.

 

Otherwise we might as well learn to live with it.

Very well stated....just think until KHSAA stands up to these judge's rulings, that high school basketball is getting out of hand in this state of Ky. and taking much away from our beloved game as far as fair playing grounds...

Why does their talent level have to be the deciding factor if a kid can play or not when transferring?

Kids transfer all the time just to play a sport, but it seems that it's ok for certain schools to do it and others not so much.

My problem is prostituting their small school status to bring their select basketball academy team to compete in a "small school" tournament.

 

Cordia is no more a Class A basketball program than is Scott County.

If you choose to put together a academy type program, have the decency to decline the "All "A" invitation.

Cunningham (Dad is an assistant), Ortiz (LHL mentions his Dad moving), Chapman (LHL mentions his Dad moving), Combs, Cornett. Those alone are kids who live there with their families and make up more than 10% of the team. They all play too.
