Yes. I have multiple friends competing so if given the opportunity I wouldn't even think about it.

I have no desire to go to Russia anytime of the year for any reason.

Speaking of that, has anyone ever been to the Olympics before? If so, do you have advice?

Yes, I went to Atlanta and London. Advice:do some research about the areas of the events you want to see, get tickets to events as soon as possible-great packages but they are snatched up quickly. I used CoSport which was great and had a blast saw basketball and beach volleyball gold, sliver & bronze games. Traveled around by train, subway, taxi and double decker bus. We did lots of walking so comfort is a must when it comes to shoes and clothing. Pack light so you can bring back souvenirs. Only take what you can handle yourself. Check what type of power source the country uses so you can charge your phone. It was a great trip to London. I took my nephew for his graduation present & had planned the trip for 4 years which I'm glad I did. We shared memories that we will share for a lifetime and met many US Olympic athletes!

By the way, was that your SUV parked on our street the other day (illegally) that they had to plow around? Was near your driveway and I cursed you as I drove by. :lol2:

I skied, and I played hockey, but I would rather go to the summer rather than the winter Olympics no matter where they are if I am only going to spectate.

I lost what I was going to post, but I'll just a say this for now.

 

I would go, just as I love a challenge and being in the protection field I'd see it as being interesting. But would I recommend anyone else to go? NO! I have said for a couple of years that this is going to be a nightmare!

 

The US will have some airplanes on standby for possible evacuations, as well as two warships in the Black Sea on standby.

Rule of thumb: if you have to import snow to your venues you shouldn't be hosting the Winter Olympics. Russia has many beautiful cities that are buried in snow this time of year, those should have been used. Heck, Sochi would make far more sense to host a Summer Games, if you were hell-bent on them being an Olympic host city.

 

All of that said, if I had money and vacation days to burn, I'd absolutely take my family over there and wrap ourselves in Ol' Glory. I love the Olympics.

 

The State Dept has warned the US participants and others not to sport the Red, White and Blue outside of competition due to terrorism. I have to ask, why are we even going if this is such a threat?
