Didn't say anything earth-shattering that anyone didn't already know, but I appreciate that he can see it does go both ways.

True.

Waiting for the fall out over this...

What was the context in this statement? Was he asked a question around it. I don't think he should proactivly bring something like this up. But if he was asked a question around it I can understand.

.....and on the flip side of that some blacks and whites give me a pass because I am black.

-President Obama

President Obama Says Some Critics Don't Like Him Because He's Black

That was probably the most honest thing I've ever heard come out of his mouth.

He is dead on the money. Unfortunately for too many people, race plays a part in their decision making. Just like there are some racist out there who don't like Obama simply because of the color of his skin, there are also some, and I will say racist likewise, who only like him because of the color of his skin.

I am assuming he was asked the question. The New Yorker is reporting that is what he said.

Maybe it's the white half of him that no one likes...:D

Seeing as he was the first Black President, yeah, I'd say there are people who "only" liked him because he was black...

I'd say there were people who voted for him because of that reason as well.

Absolutely. As there were people who voted against him for that reason. Some from his own party.

I'd say there were people who voted for him because of that reason as well.

Yep. And I don't have a problem with it either.

I actually don't dislike the President as a person although he does come across as arrogant at times. I just don't think he is/was qualified to be President. It is the people who propped him up and those who blindly voted for him that I have an issue with. (Which means some did not blindly vote for him, and I respect their right to have an opinion.)

One can say that there weren't a lot of choices which is true, but I see an under-qualified puppet of the socialists who want to re-write the constitution to be a greater danger to our country and our freedoms than an under-qualified puppet of the conservatives. Just my opinion.

Is it safe for me to assume then that you have the same issue with people who "blindly" voted against him for the same reason?

What % of voters do you feel voted blindly? I hear that all the time. It seems that when people say that, the assume NO one made an educated vote for him. Which is weird. I actually do not know a single person in my own life that voted for him, that did so blindly. You say "some did not vote blindly". What does that mean? That you feel the majority did?

That's like me saying people who voted GWB in the second time did so blindly...because I sure as hell can't figure out how anyone made an educated vote for him. But in reality, I know that we looked at the candidate and came to opposite conclusions.
