So when does Pete Carroll get credit for being an incredible football coach?

Featured Replies

He has that California cool, and a dirty past from his USC days. Whatever the reason is, he's continually overlooked when people talk about great defensive minds. I'm not sure of this 100%, but the guy has the chance to become the first coach to win a National Title and an NFL Championship since who, Paul Brown? It is time for Pete Carroll to get his due as a football mastermind

I got no love for Pete Carroll. Ever.

This^

Jimmy Johnson is probably the last guy to win a college title & NFL title.

Never a fan of Carroll until Harbaugh took over in San Francisco. Now I love him, just because he and the Seahawks get under that guys skin so darn much. :lol2:

Okay...am I the only one fiending for a Pete Carroll post game interview where he calls out the opposing coach?

Pete: "That's what happens when you put sorry coaches on the other side of the field!!! Don't you ever try to coach against me!!!"

Pam: "Who was trying to coach against you?"

Pete: "Jim!! And his mediocre brother John!" "Don't you ever try to coach against me!!"

I need this in my life.

Never.

You have me confused. Seattle has been money since he took over, and you are a Seahawks fan. Tough crowd.

You may not like him, but he knows the game.

I love him, personally... But he'll never get the recognition he deserves for his accomplishments. He's a defensive genius, but people seem to look over what he's doing with Seattle now when discussing him with me. They go back to the Jets and Patriots days (which honestly weren't all that bad) and talk about how his only accomplishments at USC were vacated. When I ask them why they still credit Calipari for Final Fours at UMass and Memphis, they don't have too much to say.

I've always enjoyed watching USC also. I questioned the hire at the time, but it's been a great decision.

Cal does have a national championship that isn't vacated ya know.

Carroll is just a tool and I dislike everything about him.

You don't like anything non-Giants related. Just own it.

I know. And two weeks from today, Pete Carroll may have a Super Bowl trophy.

This debate is older than Cal's championship. I'm a UK fan and glad he got one, but I'm not going to let people argue that he has Final Fours at 3 schools unless they credit Carroll for a National Championship.

He's still paying his players. :)

John Schneider and Carroll both deserve a ton of credit for what's going on in Seattle... Just take a look at some of the impact guys..

Russell Wilson - 3rd round draft pick...

Marshawn Lynch - 4th and 5th round pick...

Chris Clemons - Gave up Darryl Tapp and a 4th round pick...

Richard Sherman - 5th round pick...

Byron Maxwell - 6th round pick..

Jeremy Lane - 6th round pick

Doug Baldwin - Undrafted free agent

Kam Chancellor - 5th round pick...

It seems they do some of their best work in the later rounds. Some of the 1st round picks have turned out great (Earl Thomas, Russell Okung) and some are still very questionable (James Carpenter, Bruce Irvin)..

These two just work so well together. They know exactly what works for what they're trying to build, and they go get it.
