NKY Boys 8th Grade Basketball

Trinity played St. Pius in the semi-final of the St. Henry tournament and won by about 4 or 5 I believe, then played IHM in the finals and won by 15 or so. Depending on who the #3 and #4 seeds end up being, it wouldn't be a big surprise to see a Trinity/St. Pius final which would be a great game and preview of the next 4 years in an already heated NewCath/Covcath rivalry.

That's right. Thanks. Forgot about that game way back in November, but I was not at the game.

If it is Trinity and St Pius in the finals it should be a great game.

Diocesan Tournament has been well ran and it looks like we're going to have a Trinity/SPX final tomorrow at 3:30. Should be a pretty good game.

It's Holy Trinity, everyone makes it sound like Louisville Trinity, saying Trinity.

St. Pius won the 8th grade Championship. I believe final margin was 10.

Pius up 27-25 at half. Holy Trinity up 38-37 after third quarter. But in some foul trouble that ultimately cost them.

5 point game with 1:41 when Holy Trinity thought they got a steal at half-court and layup to cut it to 3 but a foul was called where the steal occurred. Made it a 7 point game at that point and that was about it.

Both teams are very good and play the game correctly. Pius was hitting from outside in the first half (some deep 3 balls) and then inside in the second half. Holy Trinity hung tough despite having their center and point guard in foul trouble pretty much the whole game.

Well played game.

Thanks, frankdracman23.

Shout out the to 7th grade IHM Saints! Way to represent!

Two very good basketball teams - the future of NCC vs CCH looks very bright. Congratulations to the boys on both teams for a fantastic season. IMO, these are two of the top 5 (if not top 3) 8th Grade Catholic teams in all of Greater Cincinnati, based on what I saw this year. St. Susanna out of Mason, All Saints out of Montgomery and Visitation from the West side being the others. Of course, this is a KY based site, but these two NKY schools stack up very well against some of the big boys across the river, based on observations of head to head competition.

Word is he's going to Covington Catholic.

Joe was at Cov Cath's SportsFest a couple of weeks ago. He was the one who organized the group of the Bengals from the 88 Super Bowl team coming to speak. Sounded like all roads were pointing to Park Hills for Jake.

I spoke to someone else who told me that as a 6'-5" 8th grader, he's not done growing yet.

Pius had a phenomenal year, winning both 6th and 8th grade boys, but don't think you'll see that CCH varsity roster peppered with their kids in the future. They'll have a few but when you factor in the talent at other feeder schools plus kids in grades above and below these kids, from other schools, it will be a nice mix with a lot of talent. The Walter kid is an example.
